Campfire Crassula
About Campfire Crassula
Plants in the Crassula genus are amazingly diverse and come in an incredible assortment of sizes and colors. Many of the ones we grow today are native to a small region in South Africa, which makes that diversity even more amazing! They're super low maintenance plants that can handle long periods of drought, so great if you're prone to skipping waters (we won't tell). 🫢 Make sure they get plenty of sunlight and that they're planted in a pot with a drainage hole and they'll be happy as can be!
Taxonomy
Crassula capitella 'Campfire'

How to fertilize Campfire Crassula

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Campfire Crassula after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Needs more sun? I’m having trouble finding any information on the campfire Crassula! I feel like it’s getting enough sun but maybe not based on the way it looks? Are they supposed to stretch out like this or is it needing more sun?

I need help identifying the 20 succulent cuttings I got from Greg in the #SpringIntoSummer contest. I just added them all as separate plants. They are all planted in the same pot right now until they grow roots. Greg identified some but I’m not sure if they are right. And many it didn’t identify. So any help in identifying them would be greatly appreciated! Sorry for all the posts but I have to post each one of the 20 individually. Let me know what you think they are. #SucculentSquad

Plant ID Greg says this is a jade but looking at the pictures I'm not quite sure #succulentsquad #plantaddict #plantsmakepeoplehappy #succulentlove #plantid

📊 Taking a poll! ✂ Should I cut the bloom stalk? 🤔 I rescued this plant three or four months ago and it was a wilted stem cutting that had fallen off next to the mother plant which was close to dying from lack of sunlight. I didn't realize that the majority of the cutting was actually a a bloom stalk! 😍🙌🏽 🌱🌸 I'm trying to decide whether I should cut it off... 🤔 I've had great experience with the growth rate of succulents from cutting the bloom stalk right before the buds open. 💦 I was thinking I could enjoy the flowers by putting the bloom stalk in a vase of water - has anyone tried that before? #succulentsquad #whatthesuccwednesday #succulentlove #bloomingsuccs #crassula #campfirecrassula #greggang #greggers

📊 Taking a vote... 💦 #whatthesucc my Crassula Campfire bloomstalk rooted in water‼️😲 What's next? After over 3 months of blooming cute white flower in a glass vase this li'l lady started to root in water! Talk about #rootporn ‼️🤩 I have yet to have the patience to fully root a succulent #stemcutting in water so this was a total accident! 😅 What's next for her... 1️⃣ "Leaf" her be in the water for as long as she likes 2️⃣✌🏽Plant her in soil now and keep her by the east-facing window and see what happens. 3️⃣ Wait until spring to plant her in soil and put her outside on my west facing deck. Take your vote #greggang 🙂💚‼️ #succulentsquad #succulentlove #Crassula #propdontshop #propagationstation #waterpropagation #bloomingsuccs

I recently got this Ripple Jade. I’ve been sticking her in direct light in my south facing window for most of the day, but I’ve recently learned that she might actually prefer indirect light?? Anyone with more knowledge than me on the subject? #Crassula

#JadePlant I just got this plant but it’s leaning. I have it in the soil it came in because it was too hard to remove it. But I also added leca, lava rocks, and perlite. Will it pep up or is it okay to lean? #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #Crassula #SucculentLove #NewPlantMom #PetsAndPlants #PlantAddict
Campfire Crassula thrives in dry soil and should be watered sparingly. Use our water calculator to personalize watering recommendations to your environment or download Greg for more advanced recommendations for all of your plants.
☀️ Sunlight Needs
Campfire Crassula requires abundant, bright and direct light. Place it less than one foot from a window to ensure it receives enough light to survive 💪. Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement in your home 🏡.
🐶 🐈 👶 Toxicity
Greg does not have confirmed data on this plant’s toxicity. If you, a family member, or a pet consumes plant material of unknown toxicity, it’s always best to consult a medical professional.
If you or someone else ingested this plant, call Poison Control at US (800) 222-1222. If a pet consumed this plant, contact your veterinarian or the ASPCA at US (888) 426-4435.
💨 Humidity
Campfire Crassula enjoys lots of humidity. Provide humidity for your plant by watering regularly and thoroughly, since plants absorb most water through their root system rather than their leaves. They may also benefit from being placed next to a humidifier.
🪴 Soil
Campfire Crassula is very sensitive to wet soil, so choose a potting soil that drains very well and doesn’t retain too much moisture. A good soil will have lots of perlite or vermiculite for drainage and some organic matter for nutrition. A few handfuls of perlite added to regular store-bought cactus soil will do the trick!
💩 Fertilizer
Campfire Crassula grows very slowly and doesn’t require added fertilizer. Replacing your plant’s potting soil once a year should provide them with more than enough nutrition. Remember, plants get their energy from sunlight, not fertilizer!
❄️ Dormancy
It’s common for Campfire Crassula to go dormant in the summertime and you may notice their growth slow down. Waterings should be spaced out more during this time.
🌎 Native Region
Campfire Crassula is native to South Africa.
🌸 Flowers
Campfire Crassula produces flowers in the wild, but does not flower when kept as houseplants.
🧐 Troubleshooting
When troubleshooting a sad-looking houseplant, start by checking for signs of distress in its leaves, such as yellowing, browning, or drooping, which can indicate overwatering or nutrient deficiencies.
Inspect the soil moisture; too dry or too wet soil can cause problems.
Ensure the plant is getting the right amount of light, as too much or too little can stress it.
Finally, consider environmental factors like temperature and humidity, and adjust care routines accordingly to revive your plant.
