About Philodendron 'Rio'
Philodendrons grow aerial roots that grip the bark of trees, allowing them to grow over 20 feet tall! Their heart-shaped leaves change shape as they climb and can grow larger than a dinner plate. Fossils show Philodendrons growing as far back as 30 million years ago when South America was still connected to Antarctica! ❄️

How to fertilize Philodendron 'Rio'

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Philodendron 'Rio' after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Repotting day! Got a lot of plants into their new pots for winter, including the adorable #spiderettes that arrived yesterday, and my #PhilodendronRio. Also added a new moss pole for my #SilverSwordPhilodendron. Seeded it with springtails, so hopefully we’ll keep the fungus gnats at bay 😄

So, I accidentally broke my philodendron rio a while back trying to pull off a leaf. The top is good and is safely growing in stratum now. I saved the bottom half because I knew it could possibly grow back from the stem. And LOOK omgggg 3 new growth points!!!

Philodendron started wilting very quickly #Philodendron My philodendron esmeraldense started wilting very quickly, most leaf stems became black at their base and I had to cut a few of them. Roots seem healthy tho. Anything I can do at this point? Thinking about taking drastic measures and chopping him up and trying to propagate...

Injured Leaves #Philodendron My plant has two leaves that were attacked by my cat (cat is unharmed, plant is moved further out of reach). They seem to have healed over at the injury, but wondering if I should be removing the hurt leaves. If so, where would the cut be? Very new to plant parenting and open to general advice as well!
