This is the custom mixed substrate I use exclusively with my amazon forest plants @Mjaubeibi40
6 parts coco chip
1 parts orchid bark
6 parts FoxFarm Ocean Forest
4 parts XL perlite
4 parts Lechuza Pon
2 parts worm castings
PH balanced to 5.5 using distilled water for the jungle plants and NEVER tap water

@AwesomePlants @ForFoxSake y'all both get a lot of mailed philos. What doe we think here?
@kscape just under grow light here in my house - and not reaching for that yet. Still a bit downwards after transport.
@Mjaubeibi40 I need to know more about the grow light. The humidity and your watering habits. Ecuador fuzzy petiole species really love high humidity and moisture. If this is imported you will probably lose a few leaves naturally as it acclimated but the roots need to always be moist. They do not like to be dry or too wet
@Mjaubeibi40 leaves can get sunburn from grow light...ππΏββοΈ I learned the hard way.
Did it arrive like that or did that happen since you received it?
Ditto what @ForFoxSake said, imports can loose leaves and it may take a while to acclimate to your environment from their natural high heat, high humidity environment.

@ForFoxSake 50% humidity at my βnew plant shelfβ I will move it to more humid areas when it is out of quarantine. Have been watering it more frequently after I got it because it seemed to drink a lot. Is it a good candidate for self watering pot?
@Mjaubeibi40 they donβt care too much for self watering they want to be wet once or twice a day in super quick draining but very chunky mix. It rains at least once a day in Ecuador but the soil is so poor it doesnβt actually retain water so I have a little washer bottle that I use to water my rainforest plants a little everytime I walk by and look at them it βrainsβ
@Mjaubeibi40 I keep them in 80% RH @ 80F but they can acclimate to 50%
The amount of direct light they can take is proportional to their humidity and temperature. They wonβt take a lot of light with cold temps and low humidity. If you have 99% RH @ 85F they could take direct sunlight all day long but at 50%/72F they will want less light, faster drying soil and more water

Of all the philodendron species I have the sqaumicaule, serpens and verrucosum are the most dramatic. Honestly not even sure they are actually philodendronβs they will probably get reclassified. @Mjaubeibi40

Oh I forgot to mention @Mjaubeibi40 I keep a moss bed on my fuzzy plants to hold moisture and prevent aerials from drying up
@Mjaubeibi40 if you have an IKEA cabinet I use a wifi humidifier that syncs to a wifi hygrometer. My humidifier turns off automatically when it reaches 70% RH so I calibrated my hygrometer to read -10% Humidity to trick the humidifier into holding 80%-90% humidity.
You can see my meter in the back reading 80% currently which actually means itβs 90% in there

@ForFoxSake perfect mix! I have everything but havenβt opened them yet - gonna make it rain on that baby :)
@ForFoxSake and Iβm gonna look into that ikea cabinet. Thanks a lot of the advices - I have some other fuzzy plants that need extra humidity. Though it has been over 50% since I have turtles and 3 humidifiers in that room. I have small domes for my jewel orchids and baby anthuriums.
@ForFoxSake what lights are you using?
@Mjaubeibi40 barrina t5 lights and ikea Rudsta wide
@Mjaubeibi40 the fuzzy plants love to be moist and dry fast more than they care about humidity. If you can lock in the perfect blend substrate you can have them in ambient humidity
@Mjaubeibi40 might help the plant recover if you put some spikes in the pot to support the leaves some from drooping so they can photosynthesize properly
