What’s wrong with him?

Question

My mum gave me this guy in hopes that I would be able to bring him back to life but he looks worse than before and I don’t know what’s wrong with him
He’s always crispy, even after watering, and he’s just getting more brown
I don’t want to kill this one 😭

Based on those fronds, i think it's a brake fern. If so, it's a humidity issue. Get a humidifier

It might also be shedding old leaves. I see some happy leaves in the center. With clean shears, try pruning away the unhealthy leaves and branches so that he can have a fresh start with sun and humidity. That’s helped my plants in the past :)

You might wanna take him out of the pot check his soil break it up. He might need some new soil, then re-pot and just saturate with water then let the water run off and see how he does then he could just be pot bound

@BuddingPitayita had something just like this when I was younger. Emis 100% right. Needs some sheering and humidity for now
