Welcome to Greg, Lock! I think that very wise of you.

I'm glad you know that it belongs outside because it really does. I've killed every juniper I've kept inside more than 6 months - they just need more light than I can provide.

I would do what @AnthuriumQueen said and find the brightest spot in your house or under a good light until the temperatures are above 45Β°. Many of my plants I move outside in the warmer months and I move them inside or into the garage to allow them to overwinter.

Believe it or not, once you've got the rhythm established with your plant and a good grasp of the care, it can stay outside all winter in a few years. Just make sure you are watering it well. I water some of mine almost every day in the summer.
#Bonsai have such small pots and they can dry out so quickly, I would make sure your watching it even if Greg is telling you to water every 7 days, I'd make sure to check it every 3 days in the winter (depending on how much light it's getting and how fast-draining the soil is) and every other day at a maximum in the warmer months.

I wish you the best with your plants! They are lovely!
Sit it under a bright light indoors. It’ll be ok. I have one. It has a light and it’s doing really well.
thank both of you for a very helpful response! right now he's under a grow light, and I've started checking his water daily. starting maybe in March or april when the weather is more consistently warm I've got a southwest porch he's gonna live on
@SureLock that sound like the perfect spot! I am looking forward to warmer weather! (:
