@StoutTigerjade that's what I think. As long as it's staying firm. You can see it similarly on this euphorbia I have. The yellowing near the base is all this summer being insane.
Hey Donna,

What's the texture of the cactus? Can you tell?

How often are you watering it currently?
@VastCoralbeads currently all of my cacti are outside getting full sun
@RJG the cactus are still firm. I usually water every two weeks
@StoutTigerjade are you in an area that is super hot rn because of this crazy summer? I've been watering my cacti outside like every 3-4 days just to keep up.
@RJG yes weโ€™ve had a brutal summer with the heat and very little rainfall. Live in the high desert area of the southwest at elevation a mile high. So the yellow doesnโ€™t indicate overwatering, maybe just need more frequent watering?
If it's out in full sun as long as the soils is totally dry you can water it no problem. It's probably happening a lot quicker than usual right now.
Here's another good example the yellow prickly pads are old and the bright green ones are new since I upped the watering
Thanks for all the great answers!
