Where are my caudex people at?
Iβve had my #sinningialeucotricha for about 6-8 months now and have it situated in a 4 in plastic pot with a soil mix that is a little denser than Iβd like. It gets full spectrum light under a grow light for 12 hours a day, temps stay around 70* and humidity is at least 60% but can get up to around 75% in this room. I check it for watering once every 10-14 days right now and plan to dial it way back for winter.
The growth on this thing has been a little disappointing this year - misshapen leaves with crispy brown tips and no flowers. Itβs going to be going dormant pretty soon. Has anyone had luck getting these to flower? When do you cut back the foliage? Should I wait to repot into a coarser mix? Give me your knowledge plzzzzzzzz

Hey Erin your plant looks like itβs doing great. Based on the information you provide your definitely taking great care of it. I would suggest adding some perlite to the soil mix. This will help the soil drain some of the excuses water. With the humidity being around 70% the soil is absorbing that moisture between watering. Perlite will help balance the water levels in the soil. This helped a few of my plants and may help yours too. P.S. not an expert π
@egotopia do you know the PAR or Lux values your grow light is putting out? They range greatly (some are very low) and if it hasnβt seen much growth Iβm thinking trying a slightly higher-output light might be a next move during growing season. Or a good indirect light window spot.
+1 to @Shazam94 about soil with more drainage.
This is the second #Caudex question Iβve seen - looking forward to building up more knowledge.

I think @cjred @crazyfoliagegirl and @Blzwber have also grown #BrazilianEdelweiss - thoughts appreciated :)
Thanks for the tag @alex!
I do indeed have one! I also have a hybrid that is half it.
I recommend it being in bright indirect light and very well draining soil. Your grow light may not be intense enough for your plant and is potentially being underwatered if it is crispy. The upside is your humidity is great
