Abyssinian bananas π donβt normally flower and will die off if they arenβt happy. While bananas can be super easy to grow, that only happens when conditions are completely met. So letβs get into it. Can you first take more photos so I can be sure that my advice is spot on? Bananas need bright and full sunlight. I prefer my bananas in an indirect, bright, sunny spot. Make sure your soil is well-draining. I mean really chunky. They love chunky soils and are heavy feeders in the summer. Looking at the leaves, Iβm thinking you need a potassium and a good cal-mag boost. You can chop those leaves at the bottom and any that arenβt in good shape. Iβve had to cut mine before all the way down to the corm to bring some back. I have a lot of bananas and multiple varieties. Including this cutie, who has probably been my biggest headache; while they are beautiful, they are fussy hashes! Iβd recommend giving your plant an even bigger pot. I know that sounds crazy, but a big, oversized planter that is a chunky soil, add lava rocks, wash them first, and then mix them into your soil. DO NOT LEAVE THEM AT THE BOTTOM. Leaving and layering planting material makes standing water and harder for air circulation. Bananas prefer heavy humidity. Your banana before it dies off should already have suckers growing. If they donβt, then thatβs a key indicator your plant is not happy and the rooting system isnβt working properly. So we need to tackle that issue. For now, if you show me more pictures, I want to make sure you donβt have a pathogen infection. But clip up those leaves and chop them up finely and put them back into the soil, burying them a little. The leaves can be used in any plant as a potassium and magnesium boost.
