Just propagated a blue spruce

Hello, I'm from Oregon and have thousands of conifers all around. Honestly, the parent shouldn't have been that close to your house. Conifers grow to be massive (I have a Douglas fir that is MASSIVE, and I'll send you a pic a bit later since I'm at a restaurant currently). To be honest, I believe in a few years you'll most likely have no need to care for it since conifers grow to be sturdy.
