Why is my Hoya caudata Sumatra so pitiful?

This plant arrived looking ok. I now realize that after seeing other plants like this a online, it was not in the best shape. It never was a vibrant green. Is there a way to save it? #hoya
12ft to light, indirect
4โ€ pot with drainage
Last watered 1 year ago
I have orders this one and will be getting in Tuesday. I have read that they are one of the harder ones to grow. Giving it more humidity than the rest without overwatering is going to be tricky. Maybe your cutting was not fully rooted . The bottom leaves look like possible overwatering. I know that these are not a good Hoya for new Hoya owners. I have a Hoya insularis and itโ€™s been touch and go for two weeks and I have not gotten the extra humidity down yet and have lost a few leaves and that Hoya is a hard grow as well.
Thats the one of em i ordered from overseas. It was definately thd hardest to keep alive. Its the only one i lost the mothef plant of when i did cuttings ! And i only got 2 cuttings to live .

It showed up@like this. After a month it had like 4 leaves left lol Thats when i chopped it up
@TheConservator ok so I have wondered about those coming from I believe Thailand the pictures are beautiful and sizes of plants for the price is great. The shipping is a pretty penny. I bet with the amount of time it takes to ship and going from that climate to the US the plants just go into shock upon arrival. I bet if you get one from overseas and throw it in a humid greenhouse right away it may do ok.
@Hoyaobsessed it takes 4-5 days to receive them fro thailand and i can give yoh the sellef i used from ebay! He combines shipping so if you buy 5 like i did its still 75$ to ship then 5$ per phytocertificate . The plant shown is the plant youll receieve so its not a random plant .
Really fast shipping! I was amazed
5star rating and and dvety review is excellent really
aim4better (5185) on ebay
@TheConservator have you ordered anything else from him besides that one? If so how did the other ones do? I have a feeling Iโ€™m going to have a hard time when I get my Sumatra
@Hoyaobsessed Just wondering where you got your Sumatra from and how much it cost?
@OrangeGrass plant proper and I want to say it was $30 with a hoop trellis.
@Hoyaobsessed Thanks! I shall take a peek ๐Ÿ‘€
I probably couldve kept the other 4 as full@plants but wasnt sure tbh . But i also just wasnt prepared for a phytosanitary plant. I didnt realize they removed 75% of the roots @Hoyaobsessed . I think if id of known to be prepared with s humidity cabinet / dome / something ๐Ÿ˜‚ thryd of all been 100% ok
I still have thd othef 4 mothers but i hacked 75-90% of those off to! Was trying to save the roots at that point
Here they are now @Hoyaobsessed And im a space lol i got 6 not 5! Still have 5 mothers
And heres what i savex of the caudata
I really cant recomend that seller enough though !
Very helpful fast response sent whats shown and fast shipping. It took him like 7-10 days to do the phytos But after he sent it. It was in the florida within a day Then a few days to get to me
I actually have a few photos after getting em thats the wayman and caudata straight from the box Notice spaghnum moss wrap on the root ball@thats left Pretty small !
But if yoh kept the humidity high enough i dont think@its an issue
@OrangeGrass ๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿ™„
@Hoyaobsessed oops lol๐Ÿ‘†
If i remember right my bill was 380 for 6 plants and shipping phytocert
Also if you do use that guy dont just click buy. Message him and tell him what you want and pricing . And yoh have to req phytocertificate . Then he will send you a custom offer for it
Another thing was that caudata is just a crazy hoya in general I coukdng tell where the roots stopped and the stem@begins lol. It has so many fine aerial roots and the vines are brown like root lol. Just looks like a mass of jumbled root viney stuff ๐Ÿ˜‚
I still think some of the vines grew up then back down to the soil and grew roots back into the ground again
Wow ! Short of getting a humidifier what can I do for the extra humidity it needs ?
@TheConservator makes me want to go to Thailand!!
