Hoya Newbie

Hey All- I just got 2 Hoyas for the first time and they're both coming up as the same ID (see Sparrow from my Oasis) and Krimson here... any help and care tips would be super appreciated! #PlantID #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #HoyaHangout @HoyaAddict 👋🏼

Looks like Sparrow is a Hoya Pubicalyx Splash and Krimson is a Krimsom Cream Hoya! To know when to water, do the “taco test”. If the leaves can bend into a taco shell shape, the plant is ready to be watered. If they are hard and firm and don’t bend, wait on watering. Hope this helps!

Krimson Queen and Pubicalyx (noid until the flowers come out) I inserted a pic of the 4 different flowers pubicalyx can have 😍 I also have a noid, can’t wait to see what we get!

Super chunky soil, like tonnes of bark and perlite is great. I water when 90% dry, I lift my pot to test its weightless, soft leaves are also a thirst indicator. Bright light is awesome, morning direct light is amazing, especially if you like to sun stress your Hoya (I inserted a pic of a few of my sun kissed leaves) They love orchid feed when not flowering, don’t be upset if your first flowers fail, this is common. If they keep failing (blasting) try to increase watering during bloom periods. They do great in self watering pots if you’re worried about overwatering ❤️🌱
