So these 2 leaves fell off one of the free plants 🪴 that recently got. They are a very light green and the hoya the came off of was super soaked. Maybe the will root maybe the won't 🤷‍♀️ We shall see. The darker green already has roots. She has been in the egg for 4 months now. #happyplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy #hoyahangout

Hoya delivery 🪴 🌱 I ordered 2 plants and she sent 2 free plants. So I ordered the hoya sunrise and the other one with the really long name is can't pronounce. The hoya fish tail and the other one (?) was free. Any ideas on what the other one is? Google said Hoya Merilli? 🤷‍♀️ #happyplants #hoyahangout

Good morning planty people of #TheWateringHole ✨🌿🫶 It is Monday, and I’m busy hurrying around watering everyone outside, as it’s lovely and 60° right now, but we’re supposed to get up to 85°, and if you know me, that is hot, hot, HOT 🥵 I am hoping to get back into the swing of regular posting, but I just had a very couple busy weeks, with picking up a regular shift at work, a trip to the coast 🌊 , and we’re getting into the last couple weeks of school for my kiddo. 🏃🏼‍♀️🍎⏰ But BIG NEWS!! We are on #pedunclewatch !!! 😱🥳🤩 Since I got into hoyas last summer, I’ve only had the start and subsequent blasting of a couple peduncles on one hoya, my crassipetiolata, but it was just the beginning of winter, and he got too cold and gave up on them. 🥶😔 Who’s the contender this time? My sweet Hoya ‘Bella,’ whom I got only last month, as a cutting in perlite, from my hoya lady on FB marketplace!! Bella is STILL in that cup of perlite, I didn’t get a chance to pot her up yet, and she has 3, count em’ THREE pedunkadunks starting 😱😮‍💨🤯🤩 As my photos will be peduncles, I’ll add my bountiful morning’s strawberry 🍓 harvest photo in the comments, along with my Mother’s Day snapdragon bloom, and my dahlias (not in bloom yet). How’s everyone’s Monday? Any blooms or new growth that you’re excited about? Any struggling? Under my rant about my current flat mite outbreak @debbiedo suggested, I supply some pictures and description of symptoms to help others spot their own outbreaks sooner (or, like me, spot those signs and ignore them, hence the rant). So here you go. My picture gallery of doom. Also: Should you have questions regarding specific pictures, please keep in mind, I'm flying blind, since at this point, Greg doesn't even show me my own pictures anymore. Hi, my lovely Greggers. Please send love and strength. Or, if that's not your thing, a bottle of a good single malt will do as well, I'm not picky. Mites. False spider mites. With big hoya collection, after having moved plants around everywhere. And maybe having spotted some signs of virused plants as well (please, please, no ) Need I say more? I could really kick myself for my hybris here. (So maybe forget the whisky, transatlantic kicks from all of you would maybe be more appropriate. I've noticed signs of the infestation for a long time now. But every time, I checked the plants I suspected, (seemingly) diligently. With my more practical magnifying app/glass. Nothing. additionally, I had high trust in my seller, had a comfortably established rest predatory mite population in some pots and am absolutely pedantic about quarantine (which, of course, is basically useless if you don't see/ acknowledge the problem when it presents during that time). Can any of you give a better example for false confidence? I even traded some plants recently, so I even checked those particular ones diligently (I thought). Now I noticed signs of weird dechlorinated leaves spreading, which before I had attributed to a nutrient deficiency. Virus? Nah. Where would that have come from on my absolutely treasured bella PES-03. I've had her for v long, I never share water, no signs of pests, so no plant sap exchange. ... ... Again, feel free to kick me. Anytime. Yesterday I saw signs of those spots on other plants where the deficiency theory makes no sense, got freaked out and finally took out my jewelers loupe. Because logic hasn't failed me completely. if spread of virus, then sap transfer. If sap transfer, then pests (in my case). And if undetected pests then a) pests tiiiiiiny and b) I'm truly fuuuuuu.... well, you know. Fundamentally angry with myself. Gosh, those things are tiny. Undetectable by best magnification my very solid glasses could offer. Even after I knew where to look because I could just make them out with the jewelers loupe. I think part of the reason for my false confidence was my experience with broad mites and some flat mites on a tomato plant a while back. With my glasses on both of those could be spotted with the magnifiers. The tiny bit the broad mites are bigger, made all the difference. And even the flat mite seemed to be a softly bigger species, so that the stark contrasting red dot could be spotted. This time? Nah. And to give me a great start fighting this problem: I planned to get up early to get myself a truckload of predatory mites before work, but I overslept after a sleepless night. Maybe I'll manage tomorrow. Or not. Things have been stressful as is. If you've followed this rant along this far, thanks. I needed to vent. Don't forget to send virtual kicks. I will deceptively attach a picture of a rose because a) hoyas make me sad rn, b) I don't think you would appreciate a huge flat mite picture in your feed c) that rose was gorgeous and d) who cares, I myself can't see it anyway. So I worked really hard and combined a lot of my succulents into combined pots to make more room on my succulents table. Gave my 4yr old Jade tree some new dirt. Watered all my succulents. I deserve a treat right? And PBJ plant shop on Etsy sent me a 15% coupon and I didn't want it to expire so I ordered a new plant for all my hard work 🙃 #happyplants #hoyahangout

Just a quick hoya share: my tiniest hoya bloom vs. the still delightful SAO111 bloom (i.e. my up-to-date biggest hoya bloom. (With macgillivray and lidleana still toddlers and the magnifica a pipe dream 🫣😅). Just had the 'Mini Pixie' open her buds last evening and found the size difference too finite funny not to share them side by side. Enjoy the rest of your Thursdays, my fellow #hoya lovers. Blossoms ready to bust out on the Hoya compacta! When I added the photo to my guys gallery it looks like he has a flower crown 🌸👑🌸 Such a cutie patootie 🥹🤭. Got a question too though…. when a plant needs watering, why do some of the pictures show a sad emoji 😞 and some are sleeping with a lock 🔒 on the pic 😴 🔒? Plus, has anyone heard when our pics will be normal again? Hello my loves 🫶🌿 Happy Tuesday #TheWateringHole , or should I say, happy #untidytuesday 😏 (It’s ALWAYS #untidytuesday at my house, ha ha ha! 😂😄…🥺😭😭 ) It’s been hot here, the last few days (80° F 🥵) and we are all looking forward to rain 🌧️ ☔️ tomorrow and in the 60°’s again, ahhh 🧘‍♀️. Plus that means I might not have to water anything outside 🤞🤞 I’ve been putzing around, doing planty chores, and checking on all my props from @IdPlantThat 🥰 Practically EVERYONE has been doing great 🙌 My new favorite method of propagating!: Perlite + a ziplock bag + my own hot air 🌬️ I live in a cool, wet climate, as most of you know already, and I had horrible luck with sphag. It always molds 🦠 instantly, or at least, within 12 hours 😵‍💫 I love this perlite + bag method because it is not inducive to mold growth, roots grown in perlite are more like soil roots already, and each bag is its own humidity box AND quarantine station!
