Happy Monday! Rainy day today on Long Island, but the green is Lush! I picked up these 2 new Alocasia (one looks just like a philodendron golden crock without the color) but is a type of Alocasia I never heard of. My caladium bloom has went to sleep (wasn’t pollinated) so it redirected its energy towards the leaves, and she’s big and beautiful and full. New leaf coming on my monstera New leaf unfurled & new leaf coming on my ruby ficus New leaf coming on my 3 kings syngonium Prayer plant props are pushing out new growth 🙌🏻🙌🏻 I have blue mint monstera and Burle Marx in their humidity domes. Still some rust fungus appearing on my regular mint monstera. I’m 4 treatments in, and although there’s new growth- it’s localized. So I do believe I stopped the spread. And that my friends is my Monday update! I was over dropping off some caladiums to family and a few friends and just had to share how beautiful they have gotten. Three or four actually have flowers! Which is so exciting to me. My plants I was happily working on today. The blue pot Ocotillo, just sold, so he’ll be making a new home. It’s bittersweet, it’s a favorite of mine. My Kalanchos have gone wild. They are a little of a mess. AMAZING Grow light for plants that need BRIGHT DIRECT LIGHT. A person at a nursery told me I wouldn’t get my trailing fuchsia to bloom inside. HA ! I did it with the help of my new Sansi bulb and my light meter. #HappyPlants #GrowingSuccs #GrowLights #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth

This beautiful discoloration appeared on my monstera deliciosa leaf almost 4 weeks ago. When I first saw it I said “WOW THAT IS BEAUTIFUL” until I quickly remembered my deliciosa is not veriagated😭 I got very nervous for her. Here we are almost 4 weeks later- the patch has not changed size or color, the leaves are still beautifully glossy and firm, no brown edges or crispy tips, no wet tissue, and is actively growing and completely attached to the moss pole with aerial roots. My research told me this can happen for a multitude of reasons, and also that the leaf could basically be unbothered even with that spot. Ever seen or heard of that before? I don’t knew what caused it, but I’m gonna take it as luck. So… a couple weeks ago I posted on here about my beautiful new Alocasia Polly. About 2 weeks after receiving it, part of the plant (with the biggest leaf 🙁) started drooping. I’ve never had an Alocasia, but I thought it was a sign of thirst. I’ve heard Alocasias are super dramatic. So I watered her. And it didn’t help. I decided I would try to repot. When I pulled the plant out- the part that was drooping completely separated from the form. Had to throw her away. But I repotted the other half with all of its roots. The plant stayed firm and green and beautiful for about 2 more weeks. I had thought I had saved her. I came home today and she was completely collapsed on the table. This morning, she looked like the firm green happy plant. Idk what happened. I took the support stick out from behind her, and the entire plant came out with it super easily. I’m talking meat falling off the bone😭 I have no idea what I did wrong. But she is definitely extremely squishy and I’m taking the loss. When I got rid of the other half prior however, I planted the 10 corms that I harvested from her- and a couple have already rooted. So it’s ok! Happy Monday! I took a cutting from my mom’s prayer plant that was dead. Basically the only cutting with some life left. I stuck her in some water…. I had a little side quest tonight while it was pouring outside. I had picked up these small plastic moss poles and figured I would try to attach one of my snow queen cuttings to see if I can train it to climb. It was my first time packing my own moss pole- I just used a simple sphagnum moss, soaking it for about 15 minutes before ringing it out. Not soaking wet, but definitely wet. I lightly tied the vine to the pole with the roots into the moss. I also used the Craft aroid mix from Grow queen. I’ve recently switched all my aroids to this mix and the plants seem to enjoy it as much as I do😂 A very fun first experience. Ive been absolutely loving my plants! I do gotta say…..everything about them is highly addicting. So I have a beautiful zebrina alocasia in my kitchen, and she’s gone absolutely wild this summer. The smallest leaf is the oldest leaf, and the largest is the youngest. You can see her growth difference. I LOVE monosilicic acid; it works beautifully for alocasias. This particular one, I’ve grown from a corm and is a few years old now.
