This is the first year of 10 since buying my house, that I have a garden! I am most proud of 30” tall Red Flame - the only Sunflower that thrived, out of 6 seeds planted 👏🏾 🙌🏾. Proudest accomplishment: installing drain in her flower bed that flows under the border and into river rock-lined stream (trench 😊) that I dug and decorated. I didn’t have a garden this year. We needed to let our beds rest for a season. I’m sad about it but also, what can you do? 🤷♀️ I was all into planning a garden in pots only this year, but just kind of fizzled out 😮💨
I am very proud, however, of my Boston Ivy. I planted him a couple years ago, he was TINY! Just a couple vines, and now he’s filling out a section of fence. My intention was to get our ugly chain link fence eventually covered with green, and Boston Ivy is not invasive here, like English Ivy is. But the problem with Boston Ivy is that it’s deciduous…we get beautiful fall colors with this vine, but then he looses all his leaves for the winter. 🤪 🫠 So, this year I got my husband an evergreen clematis, which will fill out the fence AND keep their leaves all year round….but we didn’t get it planted in time 😑 and a couple scorcher days might have done him in 😭
Our elderberry however is LOVING life. He’s massive already, and right now he has a LOT of berries!! Usually the small creatures get the berries before me, I’m sure it was because I said, “you know what, this year the birds and the critters can just have the berries.” LOL. So now I have a bunch 😂🤣

@Boymom-plantmom I saw a reel on Facebook where a woman and her daughter planted 5 loofah plants in the front of their house and they completely took their house. 🤣 they had to cut it back just to get in the front door.

What I do have are two plants that I am very impressed by. There’s the African Milk Tree, it’s growth has exploded and now it’s branching out! The other plant which continues to amaze me is the Cornstalk plant. I know it’s over due for a repot but here we go again damn procrastination. Proudest accomplishments currently: my mom gave me 2 muck buckets that were worn and cracked and she could no longer use and I planted 6 okra seeds. Not sure if I planted them in time to get a decent harvest, but hey, it's experience, right? Cement planter is filled with mini orange sweet peppers that I planted from seed. And throwing in a picture of the barrel planter that I also got from Mom full of Purple Queen, Oxalis, and Sweet Potato Vine just for fun.
#GregGivesBackGiveaway The plant the has exceeded my expectations has been my begonias! I planted several out in the empty flower bed that had nothing in it! The begonias have taken it completely over! I am amazed at the growth! I’ve never seen anything like it! I have the attached pic from a couple weeks ago, but tomorrow I will take and add the latest look they have been flaunting! AMAZING! Hi! My mom passed away on May 10. I adopted her spider plant. Plants have been so good for my mental health and grief. When I grabbed the plant it was looking very sad and now its thriving. It gave me 4 runners of babies and the first one I named Joey after my Mom (Joanne). It started where maybe it would fit in a 4" nursery pots and I just recently bumped it up to a 8" and its roots are already growing out of the new pot!
I had to repot it twice this summer! I miss her so much but could not let the plant die and I am so happy plants have given me confidence that I have lacked for so long.

@Boymom-plantmom This is my favorite plant right now! It was distressed earlier. But I put it in a secluded spot(I thought it was gonna die!) And it's coming around!🥳
I didn't do much in my garden aside from a couple of flower containers that I seem to be killing off 🙄. I had surgery and a long recovery this summer, so I kept it simple.
I did manage to get some shelves installed for my African Violet collection, though. I have several babies in another spot, but my full size violets are thriving! I added my purple majesty too- it's grown like crazy since I took this picture 2 weeks ago- it's sliding across the ceiling!

And my heart breaks for those who didn’t including myself. @DreamMachine Thank you Nadia! I am amazed that they handle the Georgia sunshine and heat but evidently they love it! My lavender on the other hand, not so much! The sun was too much for them but the Begonias gobble it up!😁🌺🌸

@FunDeathcap83 your violet looks like they might be lowering their leaves to try to catch some of the light from their neighbor. I’m not an expert, that’s just what it looks like to me! See what happens if you give them a bit more light. 🤔
@Ponytailmom Well they sure do, they’re MASSIVE!! I feel like my indoor begonias love the sun more than I was expecting them to, too, Darah! @DreamMachine according to AI it's a perched water table or something...aka water is pooling at the bottom. I doubt it! This is the violet i stupidly took to the office in temps in the teens, and I nearly lost her. I think she's a bit fragile and I plan to pull her out and check the roots as soon as she stops blooming. She's blooming profusely so that's a good sign!
