Monstera problems I repotted my monstera a few weeks back, thought she’s enjoy a good soaping from the rain and now my leaves are turning yellow. 🥲I don’t know if it’s fungus because she only a little damp not wet inside. Happy Wednesday at #TheWateringHole my lovely plant people 🤍🌿 The last few days have been quite hot, so I am actually so thankful to see that starting tomorrow it looks like we’re due for almost a week of rain 😮‍💨 🙌 I have not done any laundry, or much else around the house because of the heat. 🥵 I have spent some time checking on my cucumeris mites though 🤓 I just love them. It’s supposed to be less than 90°F/32°C today, so today I play catch-up. Luckily for me, my adhd brain takes that as a challenge. 3 days of work in a few hours? Challenge accepted!! For pictures, we’ve got a new tortum leaf, a ridiculously long latifolia vine that I very much need to make a trellis for, some broadmite ICU patients (my poor beauty star 😭 but she’s hanging on! ) and an excellent microscope that attaches to your phone making taking and sharing pictures a piece of cake, and a picture from said microscope. Green circle is my beneficial predatory mite; the N. cucumeris, and red circle is a feeder mite. ⏱️Want to be notified of these posts when they come out? Hello and calling all #hoyaheads in the US. Just want to let you know about an awesome shop I found on Palmstreet…after I finally figured out how it worked . (It’s generally way too stimulating for me 🤪) Now I just have this shop The Hoya Heaux (🤣🤣🤣) bookmarked, and don’t use anything else. It’s a small family business selling both unrooted and nicely-rooted hoya cuttings and small plants. Everything I’ve got from them has been exceptionally healthy, unique, and packed well, and usually between $1-20 😱 Anyhoo, their next “live” is this Friday 6/26 at 8:30pm CST. #TheWateringHole Good afternoon and Happy Saturday! It was a hellacious week at work, but today I’ve enjoyed tending plants, bird feeders, birdbath, hummingbird feeder, and a good walk around the neighborhood. When I got back from my walk, I snapped a few pics of our outdoor blooms. The flowering pots were bought last Sunday at Walmart and Home Depot so we can’t take any credit for those. God has provided plenty of water so we haven’t had to bother with that. I had to run out to Walmart from work on Monday to pick up something for a patient. I took a swing through the garden center to see if the pothos I had eyed the previous week was still there. I had been suffering from “will power remorse”. It was still there and still the only one of that particular one they had. Meet Albert, my Albo Pothos. Now, I really have to start excercising some will power!! It’s Wednesday at #TheWateringHole 🌿🌤️ Good morning everybody, or should I say good day [good evening, and goodnight!] ? After several days of ~95° 🥵 I am so very very grateful to be back down in the 70°s 😮‍💨 My plants, however, thought it was swell! As I was moving around my plants this morning I was thinking about the satisfying little tasks of plant care that are delightful. For me, one of my favorites is plucking off the totally brown and dried-up sheathes of cane begonia leaves. No force necessary, once they are brown and shriveled, I just touch them and they fall off in my hands. And I don’t *have* to do this, as they will fall off eventually by themselves, but it brings me joy. 🥰 Another one is when I water, and the saucer fills up but does not overflow, and later when I go to check all the water was sucked back up and the pot is the perfect “well-watered weight.” Do you have any small plant care tasks or activities that give you satisfaction or delight? #TheWateringHole Good Morning, to all around the watering hole. I hope everyone has had a gentle start into the new Week and your Monday is progressing smoothly! Since there are only 8 plants vying for water and or attention, I am curious about something that I have been wondering about for sometime now. If you are buying a new plant, a plant that is completely foreign to you, and you know nothing about it. What do you do? Do you go down the proverbial rabbit hole, like I do and try to find out as much as you can about the plant? Or do you just post a question on the App here hoping someone has the answers for you? I often find if I do the research it sticks with me and I can remember it down the line! But again that doesn’t always work that way, more times than not I‘ll go back again and again to look up the same info. Some brain fart just keeps blocking something I desperately am trying to remember. Old age or lack of concentration?? Well, that’s enough of that! Good morning Wednesday #TheWateringHole 🫶🌿🌤️ How is everyone doing in their neck of the woods? I, like quite a number of #greggers , have some pests in my indoor collection. Broad mites. (Booo hiss!!) They are minuscule, to a lot of people they are microscopic, 1/4 of a millimeter 🤏 small , but I can see them. They look like little dust specks moving around without magnification. They are notoriously hard to contain because of their size. Not only can they come in on a plant, they are so small they can float on a breeze through a window screen. 🦋🐝 How did I find them? I had a few very strange new leaves on two hoyas. They curled in on themselves, lost their shiny luster, appeared grey, and fell off (with my tweezer into a baggie) at a mere touch. I shall post those leaves. You can treat with neem, although it is a lot of labor involved, so this time and with the knowledgeable advice of @MusicalRedmint Susann, I am going PREDATORY MITES. This website DMV Beneficials is amazing. https:// They are a US-based service that offers free consultations to figure out what you’re dealing with and what would be the best predatory bug to help. If you have a pest situation and are feeling a little overwhelmed, reach out to them, they help people all over the states get connected with suppliers of good bugs. They also keep your budget in mind. And it seems like prices are not as bad as they used to be! I may be able to contain my pest issue for less than $50 😮‍💨😮‍💨. And if you are in another country, I highly encourage you to look around for beneficial suppliers near you 🦋🐞 And if you’re in Oregon or Washington, here is the supplier I will most likely be going with. You can check out their prices, only about $1 per sachet! https:// The mites I’m selecting are also microscopic, so you don’t have to see them in your house if that freaks you out. Hello everyone, it’s n again needing help So my neighbor knows I love plant but she overwatered a lot and the brings them to me to fix lol it’s really kind of her.🙏🏽 My delima she brought a prayer plant. Tomato plant, Basil, ponytail palm and a cluster of flowered begonias. 💀They’re all on their last leg and I don’t know if that can be saved. I really appreciate her thinking of me! Such a God send to get so many rescues at once! But I’m kinda at a lost🤷🏽‍♀️ Oh my! and flies galore! Came with them! 😢 My marigolds came dead; so I got seeds and looking for live ones. This has been a rough yr for me but I’m thankful she thinks of me but she think I’m a miracle worker 🤣 What can I do to save one or two if at all possible . Pictures below! Good morning planty people of #TheWateringHole ✨🌿🫶 It is Monday, and I’m busy hurrying around watering everyone outside, as it’s lovely and 60° right now, but we’re supposed to get up to 85°, and if you know me, that is hot, hot, HOT 🥵 I am hoping to get back into the swing of regular posting, but I just had a very couple busy weeks, with picking up a regular shift at work, a trip to the coast 🌊 , and we’re getting into the last couple weeks of school for my kiddo. 🏃🏼‍♀️🍎⏰ But BIG NEWS!! We are on #pedunclewatch !!! 😱🥳🤩 Since I got into hoyas last summer, I’ve only had the start and subsequent blasting of a couple peduncles on one hoya, my crassipetiolata, but it was just the beginning of winter, and he got too cold and gave up on them. 🥶😔 Who’s the contender this time? My sweet Hoya ‘Bella,’ whom I got only last month, as a cutting in perlite, from my hoya lady on FB marketplace!! Bella is STILL in that cup of perlite, I didn’t get a chance to pot her up yet, and she has 3, count em’ THREE pedunkadunks starting 😱😮‍💨🤯🤩 As my photos will be peduncles, I’ll add my bountiful morning’s strawberry 🍓 harvest photo in the comments, along with my Mother’s Day snapdragon bloom, and my dahlias (not in bloom yet). How’s everyone’s Monday? Any blooms or new growth that you’re excited about? Any struggling?
