#TheWateringHole Happy 😃 Sunday to all my #TheWateringHole friends! Hope you’re having a relaxing day enjoying your plants 🌱. I’ve enjoyed seeing everyone’s new purchases and plant successes. For those of us on the no plant 🪴 purchasing plan, it’s all about celebrating the wins at home and avoiding the garden centers. Work is the main reason I’ve avoided plant purchases recently. Too tired and no time to shop! For my successes: 1. my purple haze aloe is sporting a bloom stalk 2. My rose quartz cactus 🌵, which I have been struggling to re-root, looks like it is producing my 1st ever cactus bloom! 3. My Bantel’s sensation snake 🐍 plant is finally rewarding me with some new leaves. 4. New pothos leaves unfurling! What are you celebrating 🙌 at your oasis today? @RefinedSandwort happy Sunday Joy. Loving on your new growth and blooms. I love when they peek out and say hi. I wish that I could be one of you that’s on the no plant purchase plan - I don’t qualify. All I’ve done is that replant the newbies and the old guys with ugly hard dirt hoping they get a jump start on growing again. Don’t judge I’m working on getting in the no plant purchase plan. 🥺🤞🏽
@OhGollyItsJolly I’m probably showing my age, but I named the purple haze aloe “Prince.” If you don’t know who Prince was, then you’re a youngster!
@RefinedSandwort i’m 45 and still a youngster, unless we talkin plants then I’m an old timer lol. I definitely know who Prince. Was but that was purple rain not purple haze ⚕️
@OhGollyItsJolly true! It was Purple Rain. My next door neighbor in my college dorm that year played it ad nauseum! Prince was all about the color purple, so I figured it was a good name for the plant!
Today I’m doing the happy dance because at almost midnight last night, we finally got my shade up! It’s so dang hot here- when I go out of the shade of my porch- I fell like a steak on the grill. My cacti- believe it or not- are suffering this afternoon sun as well- almost killed my fairy castles (1 may not make it). Not to mention- our spa is now a place we can go and the water isn’t 160 degrees, or we get burned from the sides 😆.
@SillyPlantGirl The shade is a nice addition to your outdoor space with those beautiful plants! Congrats on that new growth popping out. It’s so satisfying is so rewarding to see new sprouts, leaves, buds, or pups forming.
@SillyPlantGirl the drill bit shape cactus caught my attention!! Like what is it a Cape Hatteras lighthouse Cactus?!!?!
& then the Tineke! Oh my gorgeousness! Mines a beenpole but saved it from dying in a store 🫶🏽b4 & after
also, I have to add if you don’t have any citrus, you have got to get you some citrus trees in pots and put them around your tub they love the 100 degree & survive freezes. Fun fact limonene is so bioavailable a simple smell of a citrus tree you absorb over 85% of it & it causes chemical reactions in the brain that makes your mind believe it feels better & studies show it actually convinces your body to feel better physically. Considered the Happy Terpene in the plant world 🫶🏽⚕️😇

Busy Sunday playing plants, had to re-arrange a few because I was given 2 huge Peace Lilies yesterday. Then had to repot a large spider plant for a friend it was so put and root blind had to literally cut it out of the pot then cut the poor baby in half, she was morning but roots, a major case of root porn 😂

@RefinedSandwort @OhGollyItsJolly Purple Haze 🎵 was Jimi Hendrix 🎸. I was pretty young when it came out, but it made a big splash 🤪 Definitely a song for that generation!

Got thru all my watering today plus finally potted some succulents that I trimmed ✂️ off another plant last weekend. I need more succulent babies like I need another 🕳️ in my head 🤪 but they were soooo cute! And check out the anthurium bakeri flower/seeds. 🙌🫶🏻🎉. I harvested seeds a few years ago and still have about a half dozen of them. It’s so hard to give away the babies!! 👶 🌱

@MariansOasis That red flower/seeds is gorgeous!! Of course, we propagate whether we need to or not. Speaking of propagation, I snipped a few clippings from my Albo Pothos and my manjula pothos and put them in water 💧 before the Summer gets away. Why? If I’m lucky, my step daughter or someone gets a plant 🪴. The real reason? Just to see if I can successfully propagate them!

Hey everyone!! 👋 I had a slightly less busy weekend at my restaurant, but that is good because I’ve been trying to get through my 81 plants that need attention today. Plus checking many others! I’ve noticed with the summer weather we’ve been having a lot of my plants are drying out faster than usual, plus all those new baby hoya cuttings I potted up definitely are thirstier than Greg’s original estimate.
I am basking in hoya glory rn. As you all might remember I had my first blooms in June with my Hoya ‘Bella,’ and then within this last month I noticed peduncles on my Hoya ‘Mathilde!’ She’s only 4-5 months old too! But then the most exciting news, my Hoya sp aff burtoniae who was my very first hoya, has his very first peduncles!! 🥹🥰 He was my first, I got him August 27, 2025, and he was the instigator of my year’s hoya obsession. And don’t tell the others, but he’s my favorite 🤫 with his delightfully suede velvet feeling leaves and adorable pink new baby leaves 🥰🥰

@DreamMachine Oh my!!!!! Lovelies!!!!! My burtonaiae I recently acquired has its first peduncle! I’m very excited. 🙌🏻
Good morning! I was down with a migraine yesterday so didn’t get a whole lot done. Thankfully my rescue meds worked and a little later, I built the adorable little plant bookstore kit that my daughter got me for Christmas! It was so fun that I immediately ordered the library and the apothecary kits. Besides that, working on trying to understand some new hoyas that are doing “okay” but not great, enjoying orchid and begonia blooms, and selling lots of plants on marketplace! The other thing I would love to share is an incredible terrarium refresh that my local plant shop did for me. It had overgrown mold that the isopods and springtails couldn’t keep up with, and I didn’t have the bandwidth to do it myself. I think it turned out sooo whimsically and wonderfully!
@FitBrowallia I’m still in the collecting stage too! Although I feel like I’m getting a lot pickier about what I purchase. And I’m a lot worse about buying in the winter because I wander garden centers and plant shops to avoid the cold! 🤭🫣

Where do you live? @Miawilliams love your new plants! @Sassylimey I’ll double check that I’ve got you on my list. I love doing plant chores for friends! I tend to “over love” mine, so it’s nice to do plant stuff and leave my own alone to live their lives in peace without me hovering lol! @MariansOasis I struggle with tossing out my succulent babies too 😭. I’ve started throwing them in a big pot together to sink or swim. @Just1More how wonderful! That’s a great way to get those marketplace ratings sky high lol! I always try to add cute little notes or care instructions. @DreamMachine I want to come visit next summer during the height of your hoya blooms! @RefinedSandwort the hoya game is a dangerous game. I don’t know why- they are almost like orchids..or potato chips…you can never have just one! I started with my kerrii a couple of years ago and have close to 30 now. 😱🫣

@MamaLinne I no the other hand don’t go into stores unless I really have to. My vice is Etsy I’m strolling through the plants shops all the time. They stores know me send me a coupon and I’m in heaven 🤣
