#TheWateringHole Happy 😃 Sunday to all my #TheWateringHole friends! Hope you’re having a relaxing day enjoying your plants 🌱. I’ve enjoyed seeing everyone’s new purchases and plant successes. For those of us on the no plant 🪴 purchasing plan, it’s all about celebrating the wins at home and avoiding the garden centers. Work is the main reason I’ve avoided plant purchases recently. Too tired and no time to shop! For my successes: 1. my purple haze aloe is sporting a bloom stalk 2. My rose quartz cactus 🌵, which I have been struggling to re-root, looks like it is producing my 1st ever cactus bloom! 3. My Bantel’s sensation snake 🐍 plant is finally rewarding me with some new leaves. 4. New pothos leaves unfurling! What are you celebrating 🙌 at your oasis today? Hello everyone, all my dear friends it’s been a while since I’ve posted: we all understand that life happens. But I’m so happy to be back. Cleaning? So, I never paid a bunch of attention to if and how dirty my plants were. Until today. ☹️ I went to water my Pink Princess and was horrified. Dirty, Durty, Dirty!!! It’s only been a week since I got my new gloves and plant wipes- and cleaned for the first time, and I shouldn’t be surprised as all my plants are out back on the patio….but wow. So- sat out there cleaning all the plants (well, not the cacti!). Look at this dirt!! Gloves and wipe from just 2 plants are both - gross. Nap Time! 😂😂 well I finally repotted my Boston Fern. This old girl needs a good, long- nap! It took me almost 2 hours of struggling, cussing, kicking and -well more cussing…in this 98 degree heat…to get this beast out of the pot. 🫣 it is 38 inches tall and 43 inches wide…and weighed a ton. Pretty sure I pulled out 25 leaves, if not more. Roots were wrapped around top and bottom on of the planter. What- the middle section stank??!?? Went exploring in the FL Panhandle to see #carnivorousplants ! These sites were by far the largest that I have ever been to. The #sarracenia #pitcherplants) sprawled as far as I could see at one of the sites in the Apalachicola National Forest! I primarily saw Sarracenia flava, or the yellow pitcher plant. More specifically lotsa Sarracenia flava var. rugelii & Sarracenia flava var. rubricorpora! I was absolutely delighted to have seen rubricorpora in the wild for the first time; the red of rubricorpora is just absolutely stunning. At one of the sites in Blackwater River State Forest I also saw Sarracenia leucophylla, or the white-topped pitcher plant, growing amongst the flava! And, of course, a whole lot of Sarracenia psittacina, or the parrot pitcher plant, growing underneath the tall sarrs! They can be very tricky to avoid stepping on because they grow in such numbers! One of the highlights for me, though, was finding Pinguicula planifolia! I cannot remember the common name of it right now, but its one of Florida's native butterworts .. And my personal favorite! Work Area! Ok y’all- we get to see all your beautiful plants and flowers. I want to see your “work” area! LOL I have SO much stuff that I literally have 6 different places to store it, or have handy. But I like to see others because sometimes I get new ideas for storage 😊 Although I’m scared I might need an intervention 🤭😂 ok here goes…all my places,,,, and Lucie. It’s a beautiful sunny Thursday here ☀️. A bit warm but not beastly hot 🥵 😮‍💨. Waiting for the afternoon breeze off the ocean 🌊 🌬️ to cool things off 🏖️. Tried posting earlier but poof 💨 it disappeared so here’s a quick mini version: my Moonshine philodendron hasn’t grown much all spring/summer. Protected southern window, Superthrive Pro, up-potted to 6” pot May 2024. Any advice? Pics of my encyclia orchid still in treatment/isolation for thrips 😖 . The first treatment (insecticidal soap with spinosad) didn’t go so well as I rubbed too hard evidently and stripped parts of some leaves 🍃 of protective coating. But he seems to be recovering ❤️‍🩹 and has some new growth so 😮‍💨 😌 😅!!! Last 2 pics are SOH cuttings, so sweetly sent by @stephongreg so I can have another go at trying to raise SOH 🩷🤍💚. The sphagnum moss pot is doing well 👍 although it’ll be a job getting them off the moss and into pots 😑. The soil prop pot should be good to go as is🫡👍. Dracaena tree! My husband gave this to me last year for Mothers Day. It was in a planter with 2 other plants. It was maybe 6 inches tall… now- 1 year later (and a couple of up pots!) it is now 5 feet tall. 😳 #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #Dracaena #DragonTree #GregGang

SCALE! My 2 newest Crepe Myrtle’s….about a year old…hubby went to water and said “hey what’s the white cr*p on the trunk?” I freaked out. Ugh…I should have kept my mouth shut when I said I’d never had anything bad, just a little spider mite on 1 of my plants. Yep- it’s Crepe Myrtle Bark Scale. Took my scrub brush, soap and neem and started cleaning. Hubby thinks we’re crazy for scrubbing trees. I don’t! I’ve babied these 2 for a year (had 2 others that died). Hi all, so this Ponytail is about 7 years old. He’s been in this 19” pot for almost 3 years. He’s outdoors except for winter. Hes 47” tall. I’m wondering if it’s time to repot. The ends are so long I run them over with the dolly it’s sitting on, and the soil has shrunk about 2 inches. This guy weighs a ton and it took 2 of us to repot it 3 yrs ago. Hi everyone. It was a little over 1 year ago that I came on here to ask a favor, and I am back tonight asking that same favor. The past 2 days have rained and poured, and the Texas Hill country is once again flooded/ing. My son is the Superintendent at Guadalupe State Park, and acting Super at Pedernales State Park. The flooding at Guadalupe has exceeded the levels of last years flooding, which was 31.4 feet. Many people have been evacuated. I would like to ask that everyone keep these people in their prayers. I know there are some on Greg from surrounding areas, and if you’re in the path of this…please be careful and safe. I’m 2 hours north of my son and we aren’t flooding- just really really soggy.
