How to Overwinter Fuchsia

I bought a fuchsia and I know that in southern Ontario (Canada) these are considered annuals because they're not winter hardy

BUT; if I leave it in the pot and bring it inside during the cold season will it come back? I know in theory it's possible but does anyone have any firsthand experience with it?

It's suppose to. I have been unsuccessful. I think a grow light and mist? Check your grow zone.
@ittle.squid if you take it inside over the winter I believe it should keep on putting out new leaves and flowers if under a grow light.
I have not ever done it before but it wouldn’t hurt to try before just leaving out in the cold to die. I think of many annual plants people bring inside to overwinter. Begonia for example and ferns too. I have done my fern this way. May look a bit scraggly by winters end but if it survives what have you lost? πŸ˜‰
Give it a go!! Keep me posted!! I am definitely rooting for both of you!! πŸ™ƒ
It might depend on the species of fuschia, because some are actually perennials that are grown as annuals in certain climates.
I have seen many β€œannuals” grow all year round in a greenhouse. When in that setting it tricks the plants into thinking it’s spring / summer all year long …. Pretty cool actually.. as far as in your home your best bet is to give it constant light and temps.
