Losing leaves
My #WaxPlant is losing leaves. At first I thought it might be too dry (it was high up, so I was watering based on Gregs watering schedule, not by look/touch), so I fixed that situation (about a week or two ago). The amount of leaves lost has slowed down, but itβs still losing leaves. Do you think 1) itβs getting too much water, 2) due to inconsistent watering (too little water then too much), or 3) just hasnβt fully recoveredοΏΌ from being dry and just needs time? #HoyaCarnosaTricolor #Hoya #leavesfalling #leaves #helpneeded #Watering

@HoyaAddict may have tips too when she has a minute.
Definitely looks over-watered. I would give it plenty of sun, Hoyas β€οΈ light! But acclimate it slowly if it's not used to it.
Don't water again until the soil is thoroughly dry. Hoyas like to dry out, but water as soon as soil is dry. Use your finger, or a cleaner and less intrusive way is sticking a wooden chopstick or skewer all the way to the bottom of the pot. Wet dirt will stick to dry wood. If there's still dirt, don't water until stick comes out clean. Kinda like baking a cake!

@RJG Thanks Drew!
I would definitely say overwatering π₯² these guys are very prone to root rot, theyβre happier underwatered! I definitely advise squishing the leaves between your fingers and when they start to get soft and flexible is when itβs okay to water again. For now I would take it out of the soil and chop off any rot, repot into something very chunky or airy and if possible also a terracotta pot. (Orchid pots are also good, not the clear plastic ones but the ones with lots of slits/holes.!) keep it in a small pot, theyβll have a tiny root system compared to their leaves. Good luck! π«Ά
