Hoya blooms and my lucky timing

Time for some #hoya blooms!

I was waiting very patiently for the big Carnosa Wilbur Graves to open up, but I had to go out of town a week and a half and was afraid I was going to miss it open. My new plant sitter took some pictures for me, but very fortunately they’re still open for me when I got back!!! This one has so much nectar right now! This plant has grown like crazy, and I didn’t have the time to contain it before the peduncle formed so I clipped it into the side of the cabinet, so excuse the having to awkwardly hold it to take pictures. I found a second peduncle on it the other week, but it was kind of smashed on a cabinet shelf, so not sure it is viable still but we shall see.

And I just posted this lacunosa recently, but as soon as the flowers dropped the peduncle started growing again and it just opened up last night. Lots more blooms this time! This one started on a second peduncle while I was out of town too!

More pics in the bottom.

The clip onto the wall situation and before it opened!
Hoya lacunosa. Many fuzzies this time, looks about 10 more tiny flowers!
What beautiful flowers! I’m starting to see why people get so into Hoyas. Thanks for sharing.
@Alinaa Your collection of hoya plants is truly remarkable, showcasing your expert care and dedication. The lush and elegant blooms on your Carnosa Wilbur Graves and Lacunosa stand as a testament to the meticulous attention you provide to every detail. Your ability to nurture these plants to such vibrant health is a testament to your skill and commitment. Your hoya blooms are a sight to behold and a reflection of the nurturing environment you've created. Well done ^^ !
@AroidAdventurer thanks!! I like Hoyas for their foliage and weirdness, but the flowers are a fun plus! Definitely recommend getting one and seeing how you like caring for it.
@JungleDreamer thanks!!!
Pretty, Alina! It's exciting that the flowers stayed long enough for you to enjoy them in person!!
@Alinaa Alina you must have an especially green thumb! They look like fine china, and should be a feature for decorating cakes. Truly beautiful.
@UltraKoreanfir yea!! I’m happy I got to see them! I guess the cabinet is keeping them very fresh.
@YokeBibi Hoya flowers are really nice and detailed! But I wouldn’t say I do, just did some research how to better care for Hoyas and it pays off.
Wow your plant is beautiful I love how it has the pink also I can’t find one like that they are all grey
Those are amazing!!😍 I know we talked about getting Hoyas to bloom before and I’m so happy yours did! Congratulations!!
@Michelle5986 do you mean the flowers are grey? Most of the carnosa types have similar flowers to this one. Publicalyx has a deep pink-burgundy looking one.
@Propa yass! Thanks! Keep hoping on more, I have a cutting with a peduncle, another one got a peduncle but I think it dried up too long while I was away and looks crispy 😣 but hopefully that will try again soon.
@Alinaa I’m sure you’ll get lots more! Sounds like your Hoyas are wanting to give you blooms😍 too neat, always love to watch them bloom, their flowers are the prettiest!
Gorgeous flowers @Alinaa … I wish I could get another Hoya to bloom😫
@Alinaa no I thought that was your Wilber graves mine has grey silver splash I thought o seen pinkish on yours
@Michelle5986 ooooo yes! It is a Wilbur, I think it’s just sun stress on the splashes turning it pink.
@Alinaa I need to get to stressing then lol
@FirstCanna honestly I think it’s just more regular water and nutrients in a fast draining substrate, makes them happier!
Mine seem to be happier now that I changed their soil… I see new growth on allllllπŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€— @Alinaa
They are so beautiful 🀩 πŸͺ΄πŸ‘πŸ½
@FitBrowallia thanks!
Love them both! I currently have two peduncles on my lacunosa β€œSnow Caps” that I am hoping don’t blast. I’ve blasted my multiflora buds twice now but they are on bloom number three! And both of my bellas have peduncles too. Hopefully soon I can share some blooms too!
@PlantznBirdz they say to keep them a little moister while they’re trying to bloom. Especially like Bella and Multiflora they’re thinner leaf ones that like a bit more water and bloom often.
Those blooms are STUNNING! Huzzah! πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½
Alina, your Hoyas are gorgeous and those blooms are stunning.
I have a super silver splash krohniana that produced two peduncles and the stems turned yellow and fell off. The plant is now producing another peduncle, I don't want to lose this one, is there anything special I need to do for my plant to help her produce the blooms?
@Sassylimey hmmm it sounds like a water problem if the peduncles fall off. I’d consider it similar to when new leaf growth yellows and falls off.. I’d almost attribute that to letting it dry a bit too far then watering it and it gets a bit upset.

The general recommendation to when you see the peduncles come in is to keep it a little moister. I also feed every watering. I know some people switch to a flowering fertilizer when they appear/start budding to encourage them more, but that’s just too much work for me so just the normal foliage nutrients regularly.
Thank you so much Alina. I'll give her a little more water πŸ’¦ πŸ₯°
