Hello everyone. I guess you could call us an update on the American beauty Berry plants that I have growing by the hundreds all over my property. I dug a small one up today to put it in a pot. This plant was only about 4 inches high however it had two main roots expanding about 3 feet. I clipped back the root so it would fit in a pot. I never saw a plant this small with the root system that extensive. It’s hard for me to believe that Lowes is selling these plants for $40. @Preciousplants1 , I had a little time yesterday at work so I went to Home Depot in Crystal River Florida. They wanted $39 for a 7 gallon pot. I can’t believe the price of these plants. For decades, literally, I have been cutting them down like weeds. I have one growing up on my old fence line. It’s over 4 feet high. I’m just pruning around it and letting it grow like an ornamental bush now. I guess the reason why these have become so expensive is that they have medicinal qualities. People also make jam out of the berries.

@Ms.Persnickety , thank you for the great information👍 here is a larger one that’s growing on my property. This one is about 4 feet high. It had a bunch of vines growing in it, choking it out. I pulled them all out early this evening, then cut the vines way back with some hedge clippers. I literally have hundreds of these growing all over my property. This one is about the biggest one.
