How to fertilize California Sunset

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your California Sunset after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Are these succulents going to bloom? I’ve never had succulents flower before and two of my newest babies look like this! #NewGrowth #succulent #SucculentSquad

Succulent getting spots? Noticed these two are getting these darker - slightly raised spots? Greg couldn’t figure out which species these were either 🧐 Adopted all my succulents April 10th from lowes - outdoor area. *edited to add: I’m in Las Vegas where it’s hot, and dry. They get slight direct morning sun - not for very long - and then bright indirect light the whole rest of the day. The spots only appeared on these two out of the 11 I brought home that day and put in the same spot.. it’s only this species that’s developed the spots 🤔 #SucculentSquad #SucculentLove #Succulents #SucculentID

How do I help this grow? #CaliforniaSunset Hey y’all, I’ve had this California Sunset for around 2 years. Unfortunately halfway through year 1, my bird ripped up the plant and I had to save it. I was successful, but it hasn’t grown at all 😕. Any tips? What should I do? #SucculentLove

All of these lovely lil baby cuttings have finally begun to grow their own roots~ 🥰 It won't be long now and they'll be looking to fly the nest and find their forever homes. I have a few folks in my life that might like one, but considering my future plans, I might set up a shop on Etsy for those that aren't gifted away. It's still an idea in the works - lots of plant plans going on right now, honestly - but I have high hopes for the future regardless~ 🌿✨️ #BabyPlants #Cuttings #CaliforniaSunset #StringOfButtons #BlackSempervium #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #LadyNature

A follow up. Hey y’all, I finally repotted my cali. I’m pretty sure it hasn’t been growing due to root rot? There were close to no roots left on the poor thing. Hopefully my new watering method and pot will help it flourish. #CaliforniaSunset #SucculentSquad #SucculentLove

Why is my California Sunset losing leaves? My California Sunset was doing well and then it suddenly started losing color and then losing all of its leaves. The leaves were not soggy nor were they wrinkled so I don’t think it’s a watering issue. I used a few of the leaf droplings to propagate and they seem to be doing well in the same area. There is also new growth appearing. My guess is a light issue but I have it under a grow light. #SucculentLove #CaliforniaSunset

Finally found a marble queen and there was a manjula next to it so of course both came home. I lucked out. They had just finished hanging the marble queens up and I grabbed the best of the 3. In the background my daughter brought home a cute California Sunset. #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy #MarbleQueenPothos #ManjulaPothos #CaliforniaSunset

Let the propogating begin! This graptosedum was REALLY leggy when we inherited it a bit ago, so now that it's had a while to get used to being in my succulent window with good light and having its own pot with room to stretch out, it was time to chop off its head so I can make a full shiny pot of babies 😁 The graptoveria that came in the same succulent collection is next on the chopping block, but I'm giving him a bit longer to put out more non-etoliated growth first. #succulentlove #succulentsquad #whatthesuccwednesday #graptosedum #propagationstation #happyplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy #texasgreggang

Propagation ~cali sunset graptosedum So I have this stalk of Cali sunset graptosedum, that sadly rotted at the base of the stalk, it started to recover but got rained on again and just was over it. I decided to go ahead and cut, but it already had a baby growing on it prior to the chop. What would be the best was to go about propagating this plant ? Just leave it in a dry medium & remove remaining leaves ?
California Sunset thrives in dry soil and should be watered sparingly. Use our water calculator to personalize watering recommendations to your environment or download Greg for more advanced recommendations for all of your plants.

🧐 Troubleshooting
When troubleshooting a sad-looking houseplant, start by checking for signs of distress in its leaves, such as yellowing, browning, or drooping, which can indicate overwatering or nutrient deficiencies.
Inspect the soil moisture; too dry or too wet soil can cause problems.
Ensure the plant is getting the right amount of light, as too much or too little can stress it.
Finally, consider environmental factors like temperature and humidity, and adjust care routines accordingly to revive your plant.

What other plant parents say

This is a super fast grower, and I’ve successfully propagated at least 5 of its leaves without root hormone. However, no matter how little or how much I water this guy, it’s leaves have been splitting significantly. It’s started doing this out of nowhere, but at least I can propagate more of them to try out.
