About Pilea 'Moon Valley'
Pilea plants are native to regions worldwide, and often have succulent, water-storing leaves. A handful of them are grown as houseplants, but the rest of the 600+ species are wild plants. Their name comes from the Latin for 'felt cap' which refers to the unique way that their fruits are protected. Fossils of Pilea species have been found dating back over 5 million years ago!

Propagation advice 🙏 I'm pretty new to the propagation game and recently got my first propagation station/rack ✌️ I was planning to start only with easy plants to get practice but nothing ever goes as planned 😅 I've inadvertently got two propagations going that I'm nervous to screw up so looking for some help from all of the experienced propagaters here on Greg 1) I walked into the room one day to find a branch of my mini FLF lying on the ground 😱 I snipped the tip of the stem and threw it in a water tube immediately. First it made a bunch of white gunk on the submerged stem and I wasn't too hopeful. After about two weeks in the water suddenly he is sprouting tons of roots and they are growing at an alarming rate! I was gonna let them grow awhile longer and get nice and hearty but all but one of the roots that sprouted came out at the top of the water but instead of going down they are reaching up and have grown up above the water, today I saw they have continued to grow up well out if the water and are trying to climb out of the tube??? I'm not sure what's going on and if I should throw him in some dirt or if that's fine and I should let the roots get more established? Pictured out of water and in 2) My friendship plant suddenly began to bite the bucket for unknown reasons a couple months ago after putting out a flurry of flowers 😓 I snipped the one remaining healthy looking stem and threw it in some water as I'd heard they are incredibly easy to propagate in the hopes of saving/regrowing him. I've had this stem in water for at least two months now and all I've gotten are these teeny tiny dark spikes that I thought were roots coming in but they have not gotten any bigger in a month. I expected quicker roots out of something supposedly easy to propagate, especially now that I've seen my mini FLF cutting going ham? #propagationstation #plantaddict #friendshipplant #fiddleleaffig
