How to bottom water without.. well, bottom watering. Gnats. Thatās all I have to say. We moved house recently and the landlord had this #DwarfUmbrellaTree in the hallway. All looks fine and dandy and just needs watering every so often to keep it going. However, this is a BIG BOI. Much bigger than any of my other plants. Wayyy too heavy to lift and put in a tray every week (this would be a least a two person job just to lift the dang thing). So, I have to top water, which isnāt my preference for this very reason. Iāve noticed gnats. Iām planning on getting neem oil and some sticky traps so thatās all taken care of, but how do I stop them coming back? The pot is sat on a tray which I could pour water into, but this guy is so tall and so heavy that Iām not sure Iād actually be able to lift him out of the tray to remove the excess water. Does anyone have any plants like this or have experience with this? Any help would be really appreciated. This guy is right by the kitchen so having gnats around while preparing food isnāt ideal. Has grown pretty quickly in the 2 years Iāve had it. Admittedly it doesnāt get a ton of light but still seems to do well. It will drop leaves when it needs water.

this was like one of my first plants and she is quite big i love her but sheās a little leggy,,, a lot leggyā¦.. and she got an infestation that spread to all my other plantsā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ anyway i have a love hate relationship with her cause sheās so cute but also iām always terrified of an infestation

I really loved my plant until I noticed pest on the underside of her leaves on her new growth. I immediately took her out of circulation and sprayed her with neem oil. I hope it works. Otherwise Sheera is pretty easy to care for.

Late spring I like to put her outside on carport till fall time . She grows like crazy. The carport has a cover so not direct sun . And I fill old milk containers with water let them get room temperature. Thatās what I use to water my plants with .
