Lucky philodendrons and a droopy monstera
#RescuePlants #HappyPlants #PlantAddict #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantHaul so I went to pick up some new baby philodendronsβ¦β¦ so Lucky Ohil has some friends (Brazil, Pink Princess, Whute Princess - Phil is a gold violin) and I found a droopy torn Monstera I got for half price and a couple others that were cute when I stopped looking at the sad lil monster π also, #itcouldhavebeendrugs so thereβs that π€·π»ββοΈ

@AnjiLuvzPlantz hi! Sheβs a good size, I found they love weekly waterings, moss poles, and sunlight from east windows. I would try pulling from the pot and see if itβs possibly rootbound? Hereβs one of mine π theyβve been exploding here lately after I put them on poles and into Pon
@AnjiLuvzPlantz best guess would be a support system of some kind? Tomato cages are great for that π
@Propa thank you βΊοΈ I have some bamboo poles, so I will try that and might pull her out of the pot and see what's going on. Make sure she is ok βΊοΈ
@PoisonIvys lol! I'm new to this type of plant. She has been giving me a challenge for sure!
Wow they look amazing! And thatβs damn right #itisntdrugs
@AnjiLuvzPlantz from what little I know theyβre basically low maintenance nepenthes π
not as fussy about water type and humidity but still like a hit, they propagate similar (cat placement is really similar) and theyβre clingy climbing things that need a supports cage π€·π»ββοΈ
#itisntdrugs is what I tell my eldest π
she says theyβre my drugs
@Propa pon!! I gotta get onto that if Iβm going to be headed into philodendron and monstera territory. Do you buy or mix your own??
@PoisonIvys I just love π rescues! Awesome π job!
@TwistedThreads I Love rescues too!
@AnjiLuvzPlantz I think yours may be rootbound but at that size, it may need a touch more water. A nice mix of light and airy soil mixed with perlite, a touch of charcoal, and a bit of worm castings mixed in would help it with nutrients.
@PoisonIvys I agree: this is better than that alternative. I think you have sone awesome additions to your flock!
Happy Growing! πΏ

@PoisonIvys I love the stuff honestly. I buy the lechuza Pon off Amazon (bigger bags if you can get them give you the biggest bang for your buck) I think youβll really like it but you can mix your own I just havenβt found the materials cheaper than the already mixed bags
@Propa I want to start with a premix so I know what Iβm doing, how it should look/feel/smell/react and the effect it will have on my plants before I mix my own π I have looked into it but like all good science, it starts with what you know for a control. I donβt know much about pon having strictly been into carnivorous plants and zygos until recently. I know enough to know itβs worth the effort of switching at least π
@PoisonIvys youβre absolutely right! That was my thinking as well-I just havenβt been able to find the independent pieces (lava rock, zeolite, pumice, and usually osmocote slow release fertilizer) cheaper on their own. I hear lechuza used to be pretty pricey but maybe that was on their website (idk) I buy the 18 liter bags and they go pretty far. I use clear pots/cups and make my own holes and put a lot of aroids into them/props/and Iβm playing around with cacti & succulents now. Iβve been doing some research on carnivorous plants here lately (not Pon related) just been thinking about getting some they seem pretty neat but I know theyβre totally different than other plants π
@Propa theyβre high maintenance thatβs for sure!! But fascinating and super pretty π€© I started collecting so many because I became interested in the genetics of nepenthes and now I have too many damned plants π€¦ββοΈπ³ I gotta sell some to make room butβ¦. Theyβre all my babies π
@PoisonIvys I definitely get that π I am on an anthurium kick but Iβm looking around going..where am I going to put them?!π€¦ββοΈ Iβm out of floor space even lol
@PoisonIvys I wish mine was just one table π π€¦ββοΈ I have a problem lolol those are looking great tho!
@Propa ohhhhh thatβs just the newbies that arenβt in quarantine π
nothing on this table is more than a week or 2 in my care π³ I think I paid full price for maybe 7 and at least 3 were found on fb from a local collector. The rest are rescues and half price. I have about 30 Venus fly trap rhizomes currently in the carnivore hospital. Iβm pretty sure only around half my plants profiles are up on here π¬
@PoisonIvys gotcha π€£ sounds like some great deals tooπ Iβm not on fb anymore I got off right before I got into plants and I know Iβd get into wayyy more trouble if I had it π
@Propa ohhhhh yeah π
private collectors are usually slightly cheaper than a nursery aaaaaand somehow you spend more because of it?? π€·π»ββοΈ itβs all cheap and thatβs soooo much harder to say no to π
@PoisonIvys very true! Plant people are more generous generally with their props/cuttings I think so you end up with better pricing π
