Lucky philodendrons and a droopy monstera

#RescuePlants #HappyPlants #PlantAddict #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantHaul so I went to pick up some new baby philodendrons…… so Lucky Ohil has some friends (Brazil, Pink Princess, Whute Princess - Phil is a gold violin) and I found a droopy torn Monstera I got for half price and a couple others that were cute when I stopped looking at the sad lil monster 😍 also, #itcouldhavebeendrugs so there’s that πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ
2ft to light, indirect
5” pot without drainage
Last watered 3 years ago
I have a monstera that is struggling right now. Any advice? It's in a lightly humid spot, I only water when dry, I mist it every few days and there are no pests. I'm so sad for her!
@AnjiLuvzPlantz hi! She’s a good size, I found they love weekly waterings, moss poles, and sunlight from east windows. I would try pulling from the pot and see if it’s possibly rootbound? Here’s one of mine πŸ’š they’ve been exploding here lately after I put them on poles and into Pon
@AnjiLuvzPlantz best guess would be a support system of some kind? Tomato cages are great for that 😊
I’m new to these guys so have no idea if I’m being honest πŸ˜… just general planty knowledge.
@Propa thank you ☺️ I have some bamboo poles, so I will try that and might pull her out of the pot and see what's going on. Make sure she is ok ☺️
@PoisonIvys lol! I'm new to this type of plant. She has been giving me a challenge for sure!
Wow they look amazing! And that’s damn right #itisntdrugs
@AnjiLuvzPlantz from what little I know they’re basically low maintenance nepenthes πŸ˜… not as fussy about water type and humidity but still like a hit, they propagate similar (cat placement is really similar) and they’re clingy climbing things that need a supports cage πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ
#itisntdrugs is what I tell my eldest πŸ˜… she says they’re my drugs
@Propa pon!! I gotta get onto that if I’m going to be headed into philodendron and monstera territory. Do you buy or mix your own??
@PoisonIvys I just love πŸ’• rescues! Awesome πŸ‘ job!
@TwistedThreads I Love rescues too!
@AnjiLuvzPlantz I think yours may be rootbound but at that size, it may need a touch more water. A nice mix of light and airy soil mixed with perlite, a touch of charcoal, and a bit of worm castings mixed in would help it with nutrients.
@PoisonIvys I agree: this is better than that alternative. I think you have sone awesome additions to your flock!

Happy Growing! 🌿
@PoisonIvys I love the stuff honestly. I buy the lechuza Pon off Amazon (bigger bags if you can get them give you the biggest bang for your buck) I think you’ll really like it but you can mix your own I just haven’t found the materials cheaper than the already mixed bags
@Propa I want to start with a premix so I know what I’m doing, how it should look/feel/smell/react and the effect it will have on my plants before I mix my own 😊 I have looked into it but like all good science, it starts with what you know for a control. I don’t know much about pon having strictly been into carnivorous plants and zygos until recently. I know enough to know it’s worth the effort of switching at least πŸ˜…
@PoisonIvys you’re absolutely right! That was my thinking as well-I just haven’t been able to find the independent pieces (lava rock, zeolite, pumice, and usually osmocote slow release fertilizer) cheaper on their own. I hear lechuza used to be pretty pricey but maybe that was on their website (idk) I buy the 18 liter bags and they go pretty far. I use clear pots/cups and make my own holes and put a lot of aroids into them/props/and I’m playing around with cacti & succulents now. I’ve been doing some research on carnivorous plants here lately (not Pon related) just been thinking about getting some they seem pretty neat but I know they’re totally different than other plants 😊
@Propa they’re high maintenance that’s for sure!! But fascinating and super pretty 🀩 I started collecting so many because I became interested in the genetics of nepenthes and now I have too many damned plants πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ˜³ I gotta sell some to make room but…. They’re all my babies πŸ˜…
@PoisonIvys I definitely get that πŸ˜‚ I am on an anthurium kick but I’m looking around going..where am I going to put them?!πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ I’m out of floor space even lol
The ever expanding rescue table πŸ˜… some are Purposeful Plant Purchases but most are random β€œpoor baby guyyyy… you’re coming home” type deals πŸ˜…
@PoisonIvys I wish mine was just one table πŸ˜‚ πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ I have a problem lolol those are looking great tho!
@Propa ohhhhh that’s just the newbies that aren’t in quarantine πŸ˜… nothing on this table is more than a week or 2 in my care 😳 I think I paid full price for maybe 7 and at least 3 were found on fb from a local collector. The rest are rescues and half price. I have about 30 Venus fly trap rhizomes currently in the carnivore hospital. I’m pretty sure only around half my plants profiles are up on here 😬
@PoisonIvys gotcha 🀣 sounds like some great deals too😏 I’m not on fb anymore I got off right before I got into plants and I know I’d get into wayyy more trouble if I had it πŸ˜‚
@Propa ohhhhh yeah πŸ˜… private collectors are usually slightly cheaper than a nursery aaaaaand somehow you spend more because of it?? πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ it’s all cheap and that’s soooo much harder to say no to πŸ˜…
@PoisonIvys very true! Plant people are more generous generally with their props/cuttings I think so you end up with better pricing πŸ’š
