Good morning everyone. Light drizzle this morning in West Central Florida. I’d like to know if anybody can help me identify this plant. There’s a huge wall of it that growing on my property. It is growing where a tree once fell. At first, I thought it was an invasive kudzu plant . However, on the Internet it shows that kutzu has smooth leaves. Obviously this plant does not. The plant identification apps I’ve tried call it muscadine grape. I have my doubts about that one. Also muscadine grape is a cultivated grape here in Florida. I don’t think I’m being invaded by wild grapes πŸ€”πŸ§‘β€πŸŒΎπŸŒ»βœŒοΈ #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #OutdoorGrowing #TheWateringHole @HFplantoasis @HummingbirdMint @Idplantthat @ILoveMyPlants @Jadedbelle @Jujube @Luckeecharm1 @ModestCoconut13 @Ms.Persnickety @newplantgirlies @Preciousplants1 @princesspitstop @QuickKalopanax @sarah10orio @Shells_Garden @SillyPlantGirl @SizableSuncup20 @smushface @SolaceInSunshine @RefinedSandwort @Ponytailmom @Blhagmaier @BigPetunia80 @BEsucculent @UnbeatenSoybean @TopCoriander6 @stephongreg @ILoveMyPlants @SpyderLily @Ms.Persnickety @CutePolypremum @DreamMachine @ILoveMyPlants @MariansOasis @SillyPlantGirl @Tiffanypickles @4eva @ @NOLAPhoenix @Devsleafypals #Greggang #TheWateringHole #gracefulspurge #baldcypress
That is a muscadine. They are resilient and will spread. We cultivate ours and make wine and jelly. There is the basic purple ones and the much sweeter white/green that are actually golden when ripe, those are scuppernong muscadine. πŸ˜‹ πŸ˜‹
@JauntyBanana55 πŸ˜²πŸ˜„ thank you. It’s been growing for several years. I haven’t seen it produce anything yet. There is literally a wall that is growing about 10 feet high and about 30 feet long. It has several other plants growing in with it. Beauty Berry and stink vine. I think I’m gonna add it to my oasis lol
How much sun does it get?
We had some that did not produce until we cut the tree back that was overhanging it. And putting it in shadow, now it is producing big time.
@JauntyBanana55 , it’s pretty much in full sun. It is growing where a tree fell in 2017. It was a large large oak tree that was knocked down by a hurricane. It’s growing where the log was. οΏΌ
Grapes
Those are wild grape leaves. They are very invasive. I just cut down a hole 6 foot fence filled with them. I like them because I make real great leaves and stuff them after you blanch οΏΌthem first. Hope this helped
It’s a grape.
