So excited, I took a chance and imported some plants. I was really nervous, but they actually did pretty darn well. Yay it’s Friday 🥳!! Although retired now I still like weekends because then all my ‘not retired’ friends aren’t working! 😆 🎉 Hoya Heaven ☁️ 😇 in July at my Oasis🏡 🌸🌿🍃🌼. Pubicalyx is in full drippy juicy bloom. Krimson Queen leaf is blushing pink 🩷 + peduncle popping out and 2 tiny pink bébe leaves 🍃💕 Last two are post sulfur treatment, only the first go round & already showing happy signs of new growth 🪧 🍃- Hoya Chelsea and Burtoniae 🌱. Today is orchid watering 💦 day 😊. Always fun to get in and look 👀 close up! Hopefully some signs of new roots or spikes 🙃🫢🤫🫣 What’s happening in your oasis and gardens? It’s Saturday afternoon and despite the forecast of grey clouds ☁️ all day, we’ve got some sunshine ☀️! The last few days were hectic so happy to just hang out today, water some of the 40 waiting for 💦, get some laundry 🧺 done and watch a little baseball ⚾️ 😄. Had to show off my tricolor wayetii who is back in full bloom, again! She gets the award 🏆🥇for blooming. It's been a while since I posted, but dealing with life in general hasn't been easy lately. However, I'm thankful for Greg and my plants. Hoya blooms are truly the reward for the gorgeous plants. Three of my beauties are blooming. First up is my Sunrise has passed all expectations with six peduncles blooming at once. Next up my Wayetti has bloomed, she was from a cutting I grew, just love her little burgundy and pink flowers. And third is one of my Crassipetiolata, she produced two peduncles and blasted her first set of buds then she decided to bud again and had given me these gorgeous blooms. I am THRILLED that my little-hoya-that-could has its first bloom!!! She’s a 1 year old (from cuttings off of a much older plant) that has just defied expectations in growth. And the smell is….DRUMROLL PLEASE…feet! 1000 year old feet! Lolol Or possibly swampa$$? Volleyball socks that were left in a bag for four weeks? A decomposing body? 😆😆🤣🤣🤢🤢🥴😵😵‍💫It’s sooooo bad! Lol!! I’m torn because it’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen! What’s crazy is that if you put your nose to the blooms, it smells like chocolate! But my entire sunroom smells terrrible from it. So interesting! It came!!!! Plant Mail 🪴 #happyplants #hoyahangout #hoya My hoya freckles. So pretty 😍. I got the little USB humidifier at the thrift store today for $3. I always see them on Amazon. Was wondering how well they work. Went to Walmart this morning. They have some pots on sale. Snagged that 6 in for $5. Can I interest you in another #hoya bloom? The Mathilde is doing me proud. And it it is so beautiful on its trellis that I couldn't even decide which pictures to post. Other than that there are lacunosa blooms everywhere, the Viola preparing as well, the bella is just.... indescribable and the sp. aff. burtoniae is covered in peduncles. #TheWateringHole Hello All, and Good Afternoon, I have been feeling rather lackadaisical these past few weeks. It seems that my “Get Up And Go”, got up and left? I keep telling myself that I should be doing this, that, and the other but I cannot seem to get anyof it done! Oh well, tomorrow is another day! I did manage to get the plants watered, those that needed watering. So today there are 20 more asking for attention/water. And I did find a new bloom on the Rebutia Albipilosa, did you know that cacti need much more water when they are blooming, or to get them to flower. But the line between a bit more water and overwatering is very fine! And the correct balance is crucial. On my walk yesterday I saw these blooming Frangipani, it had just stopped raining and the colors looked so intense I had to take pictures. Of course I couldn’t overlook the BoP. And I don’t know who that little yellow flower belongs to, but it looked so perfect with the water droplets I just had to post it. Please keep in mind that these aren’t mine and they live outside by the parking lot. It’s Monday, almost time for dog walk🐕🐾 & dinner 🍽️ here! Just wanted to share a new flower spike on my anthurium bakeri. It will turn bright red and then form fat seeds all along the top of the spike🌱. Last pic is the post-sulfur treatment of the batch of FB Marketplace Hoyas I got from a local gal. The day I brought them home 🏡 I showered 🚿 them & sprayed with insecticidal soap. Never did I consider flat mites. I’ve got many Hoyas and never battled flat mites. Guess if you collect them long enough it’s bound to happen. I’m definitely looking into beneficials with help from our resident beneficial bug expert Nadia @DreamMachine 🏆🙌 for post sulfur maintenance 👩‍🔧. How was your Monday? It’s probably a short work week for many with 4th of July this weekend 🇺🇸🎆🧨🎇🇺🇸. Happy Wednesday at #TheWateringHole my lovely plant people 🤍🌿 The last few days have been quite hot, so I am actually so thankful to see that starting tomorrow it looks like we’re due for almost a week of rain 😮‍💨 🙌 I have not done any laundry, or much else around the house because of the heat. 🥵 I have spent some time checking on my cucumeris mites though 🤓 I just love them. It’s supposed to be less than 90°F/32°C today, so today I play catch-up. Luckily for me, my adhd brain takes that as a challenge. 3 days of work in a few hours? Challenge accepted!! For pictures, we’ve got a new tortum leaf, a ridiculously long latifolia vine that I very much need to make a trellis for, some broadmite ICU patients (my poor beauty star 😭 but she’s hanging on! ) and an excellent microscope that attaches to your phone making taking and sharing pictures a piece of cake, and a picture from said microscope. Green circle is my beneficial predatory mite; the N. cucumeris, and red circle is a feeder mite. ⏱️Want to be notified of these posts when they come out?
