New plant babies! Hoya and tradescantia
Hi all! It’s been a while. Life got tough and busy.
But yay, My neighbor surprised me with some recently potted Hoya cuttings. I don’t know much about them but I saw them flowering once and they are amazing. That will be my goal! What are your tips and tricks for care and getting them to bloom?
Also got a pretty little tradescantia from Trader Joe’s, lol. I’ve heard they’re fairly easy, anything I should know though that can go wrong??
Thanks a bunch 🥰

4” pot with drainage

Any trad cuttings you take, pop the node back into the pot and it’ll root in a week. They grow like crazy so it is very easy to get a bushy plant fast.
I don’t have a publicalyx but my Hoyas I have in terra cotta pots and bright southern light. I let them dry out completely when the leaves get very bendy

Hoyas love to live in very aerated, well draining medium- like an aroid soil. They want to be snug in their pots and will start sending out long feeler tendrils. If you let them climb something, give them good sun, and decent humidity, they’ll eventually bloom- but most hoya take years to push out blooms.
@Stephazar oh hey! What kind of hoya cuttings? They all have their own blooming schedules, and different likes and dislikes.
Vermont Hoyas website has great info.
Most of my hoyas I will water when ~90% dry, but you can look up the individuals. Bella’s bloom really early, but love NEVER drying out, as do polyneuras. You’ll find they’re all their own personalities :)

@Stephazar apparently I’m not finished. Like Deb @MamaLinne I also make sure mine are in both well aerated and well draining substrate. You will find people online telling you to treat them like a succulent but then the same people complain about how slow they grow. So don’t let them dry out and stay dry for weeks. Don’t let their leaves get soft and wrinkled before you water. They are mostly tropical epiphytes. Depending on the hoya and if it likes it more damp or on the dry side I’ll water between when they’re 75% to 100% dry.
Some of them love climbing and some are ok to let trail. If you have ANY questions at all don’t hesitate to ask, I am a bit obsessed 😁
