About Alocasoia Amazonica 'Polly'
Alocasias, commonly known as Elephant Ears, are some of the most common houseplants although their leaves can reach enormous sizes when grown outdoors! 🐘 They typically only support a few leaves at a time (more, when they get more sun!) so don't be concerned if you see an old leaf begin to retire after a new one emerges. They grow out of underground corms which are similar to bulbs, so next time you repot keep an eye out for baby Alocasias! They contain calcium oxalate crystals so be sure to keep them out of reach if you have children or pets! ⚠️

😭 i dont understand. What can i do? Long story short. I saved this rehab alocasia last yr, she started growing, gave me 4 new leaves, then stopped growing then two leaves started turning yellow with no new growth. I gave her fertilizer, aeration, humidity tray, nothing, so i decided to repot her in leca, months later still nothing, so i moved her to bathroom with more humidity, then this yellowing happened, so i put her right in front of east facing window next to humidifier in kitchen and now this, only have two leaves left, both dying (her roots seem healthy af!....what am i doing wrong?! I gave her everything....and i had many ppl tell me alocasia love leca....im so pissed. #plantaddict #gregfeedback #greggerssupportinggreggers #greggang #alocasiaaddicts #plantsmakepeoplehappy

Alocasia question! I’m new to this type of plant and have heard that in winter they can go dormant and lose leaves? Does this happen is grown indoors? How would I know if it’s dead or dormant once winter starts?
-
Hi. Does anybody know what causes this. I don't Overwater as far as I know but I have been spaying the leaves everyday.

There is hope!! After losing most of its leaves (I think the healthy looking one will also die off because the stem is starting to brown) there is new growth coming 🌱 maybe she will start to recover after all! My corms I harvested from this plant are also doing really well, just not sure when I should give them their own water vessels #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #alocasia #AlocasiaPolly #planthelp #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PropagationStation #corms #leca

What’s up with my alo? My alo has lost almost all of its leaves and still losing more, the other two left are ones that have grown since I got her. I saved her from root rot because I wasn’t letting the reservoir go dry and since then i’ve done the shower method every day. She does have one new leaf pushing out but not sure what to do to make her happy! 🌱 #alocasia #AlocasiaPolly #leca #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict

What other plant parents say
This plant looks like dinosaur breakfast. I love it.
I found spider mites on this plant and caught them early enough! I was shocked I was able to get rid of them.
I cleaned the leaves immediately and sprayed some trifecta crop control natural pesticide (from Amazon).
Lush leaves, pest magnet and survivor describe my Polly plant to a tee.
