How to fertilize Kudu Lily

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil itās likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Kudu Lily after it doubles in size or once a yearāwhichever comes first.

Why is this guy loosing leaves? My Madagascar Palm doesnāt look bad, or seem terribly unhappy, but he is loosing about 2-3 leaves a week that yellow & fall off. It is still growing & pushing out new leaves, but not at the same level that itās loosing them. I assume itās an over Or under watering situation, but Iām not sure which. I wait until the soil is 100% dry before I water, but that also seems to be WAY earlier than Greg recommends. On watering days (and when I have extra time) I take it outside & let it get an extra dose of direct light. Any advice or just general care tips would be greatly appreciated! Itās one of my favorite plants in my collection & I want to do whatever I can to keep it happy & healthy š #GregGang #MadagascarPalm #palmparents #CactusClique #SucculentSquad

Madagascar Palm dropping leaves I pull in my outdoor potted plants in January for the freezing months. My Madagascar palm is browning and dropping leaves aggressively. I think the plant will survive once I can get it back outside, but wondering if I should be concerned about brown spots and significant leaf drop.

Is now the time to pot up my pachy or should I wait? I purchased my Pachypodium geayi in February and the salesperson said I wouldnāt need to pot it up for a couple years. Itās 7.5ā tall in a 6ā pot. Now that itās out of dormancy I assume this is a good time to change the soil and use that opportunity to give it a little more space. Is this a good idea or should I be patient until next year? Itās growing a nice new crown, so āif it aināt broke, donāt fix itā?
-
Did I screw it up? #bestintentions #MadagascarPalm Maybe @RJG can help⦠I think I sun-shocked the new leaves. Itās not fair, we have just started getting sun and Iām like āGreat! Madis love full sun always, as in their native habitat!ā So of course I put poor Jejy in the full morning sun for several hours. Then I saw the new leaves had curled under. Googled about it, and some expert was like: āyes, they donāt need *totally* full sun *all the time*, but a max of 4 full sun hours per day, and curled leaves mean too much sun and not enough water.ā So nowIām worried theyāll not recover. I just need some moral support here, I guess. Can one of yāall look at my plant and tell me whether Jejy is doomed?

my madagascar palm is sad can anyone explain why my boy is losing his leafs all the sudden?

What is wrong with my #MadagascarPalm ?? Thereās are these little tiny black/brown dot thingies all over the base of my plant, and I canāt figure out what they are⦠Are they something to be worried about? Are they harmless? Once I started to see more of them, I wondered if they were maybe seeds? I noticed that they seem to be coming from right below where the needles come out of on the base of the plant (see the fourth image below). However, after a quick Google searched I determined that this is in fact not what Madagascar palm seeds look like. Since then Iāve been wracking the internet trying to identify them as some kind of bug, but to no avail⦠I first noticed them a couple of weeks ago, but there werenāt as many of them, and I hadnāt noticed any other issues, so I didnāt think much about it. Now, though, thereās a ton of them, the leaves arenāt looking so good (tips drying out/dying, getting random brown spots and holes, etc.), the tips of the needles are changing color and beginning to look weak, AND thereās some strange (inconsistent) discoloration and sap-like substance on different parts of the base of the plant⦠Iāve had this plant for not quite two months. I give it a bit of water once every other week or so, and it sits about 7-8 feet away from a north-facing window (the only window in my apartment). Right before these photos were taken, I had just doused the whole plant with a water and vinegar mixture (I recently noticed a couple mealybugs in some of the nearby plants, mostly calatheas..), which washed away some of the mysterious black bug/seed-looking things. Anybody know whatās going on??

New location / grow light #MadagascarPalm My girl lived in my office for a few years until I had to move to a new one with no windows. I fostered her to a neighbor for a couple of years, but she just bought blackout curtains, so my girl is now home with me. My house is on the darker side b/c I have awnings over all my windows but I bought a grow light. Now wondering how long / how frequently to use it. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Kudu Lily thrives in dry soil and should be watered sparingly. Use our water calculator to personalize watering recommendations to your environment or download Greg for more advanced recommendations for all of your plants.
āļø Sunlight Needs
Kudu Lily requires abundant, bright and direct light. Place it less than one foot from a window to ensure it receives enough light to survive šŖ. Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement in your home š”.
š¶ š š¶ Toxicity
Greg does not have confirmed data on this plantās toxicity. If you, a family member, or a pet consumes plant material of unknown toxicity, itās always best to consult a medical professional.
If you or someone else ingested this plant, call Poison Control at US (800) 222-1222. If a pet consumed this plant, contact your veterinarian or the ASPCA atĀ US (888) 426-4435.
šØ Humidity
Kudu Lily prefers dry environments. Providing extra humidity or misting your plant allows water to linger on leaves, which can create the perfect environment for harmful types of fungi.
šŖ“ Soil
Kudu Lily does best in well-draining soil. A good soil will contain lots of organic matter such as coco coir as well as perlite or vermiculite to help with drainage. Adding a handful of perlite to regular store-bought potting soil should do the trick!
š© Fertilizer
Kudu Lily grows very slowly and doesnāt require added fertilizer. Replacing your plantās potting soil once a year should provide them with more than enough nutrition. Remember, plants get their energy from sunlight, not fertilizer!
āļø Dormancy
Itās common for Kudu Lily to go dormant in the wintertime and you may notice their growth slow down. Waterings should be spaced out more during this time.
š Native Region
Kudu Lily is native to Madagascar and Africa.
š§ Troubleshooting
When troubleshooting a sad-looking houseplant, start by checking for signs of distress in its leaves, such as yellowing, browning, or drooping, which can indicate overwatering or nutrient deficiencies.
Inspect the soil moisture; too dry or too wet soil can cause problems.
Ensure the plant is getting the right amount of light, as too much or too little can stress it.
Finally, consider environmental factors like temperature and humidity, and adjust care routines accordingly to revive your plant.
