UPDATE My flowering young desert rose (Thar) has finally started to bloom, and after doing some research, I found that this little one might be an Adenium socotranum; which would explain why it looks so different from the rest of its seedmates. Honestly, I thought it was elongating despite being in full Florida sun 😅 (family photo below). This also means that there is a good chance that I wasn't ripped off and these little guys are in fact different species I just have to wait for another one to flower to be 100% sure. Here’s my new planter box I just put together this morning. I put water sealer on my planter boxes so they last longer because they’re outside they are outside in the Florida heat and humidity. The next stage will be one more coat of sealer and then the interior liner. I will have it all done by this evening. Hello everyone, I hope you are well. Here is my first batch of habanero peppers. Often what I do is I dry them in the oven. Grind them up. This time I think I’m gonna add a little red curry to them. Then put them then put them in a shaker. Sometimes I grill them with olive oil and a little salt. Worked all day yesterday on my plants. I was not planning on doing a garden vegetable; I usually just help my mom do hers. But this year we have my brother and my sister plus their families back living in the area. So we needed to step up the veggies this year. I’ve NEVER grown broccoli, artichokes, or carrots from seeds, but what the Hades! I got the seeds; let’s see what we can do. Finding somewhere I can plant my tomatoes without affecting my berries. 🤔 So I settled on a kinda forgotten part of my backyard. It’s right between an old cinder block 🧱 shed and the greenhouse. I figured my vents open to the veggies this way so it makes them get a little more humidity as well as it stays warm back there year-round and blocks them from heavy winds. Just found out there's a succulent expo coming to town next month! Eeek! 😱 If anyone else in the Bay Area is interested in attending, let me know! It's at the county fair building here in San Francisco and runs Friday June 19th through Sunday June 21st. Admission is free, and they also have various volunteer slots available (I signed up to volunteer in the "Plant Hotel" for a few hours on Sunday 🤓). They'll have 40+ vendors, many of whom are selling rare or unusual succulents & cacti you can't find in stores. There's also live demonstrations, expert advice, and more. #SucculentSquad #CactusClique #SucculentLove #SucculentExpo2026 #SanFrancisco

Said farewell 👋 to several plants 🪴 today. I’ve loved them through the years but no longer thriving. It took a while to accept letting go. Hopefully all will be picked up today! One in particular I’m going to miss but she deserves a better spot than I can provide is my big SOP. “Pearlita came here 4.5 years ago, just a tiny little thing 🥹🥰. Now so full and long, she needs to hang somewhere special and I don’t have any spots for hanging plants. I have 2 other SOP’s that are her props so she’s still with me!!! 😇 #SucculentLove #BeforeAndAfter #StringOfPearls #rehoming #TheWateringHole

So the problem of the day is dormancy. The plants in the greenhouse are about to face Houston’s scorching summer. I’ve set up fans and shade for those that will be going dormant and allowing my winter dormant plants to enjoy the sunshine without drying up. When I water I need to know who’s who. So to save having to write on labels I decided to use a color scheme with yellow for summer dormant and light blue for winter. Oh and they asked me if I wanted to add something to my order.
