Cleaning? So, I never paid a bunch of attention to if and how dirty my plants were. Until today. ☹️ I went to water my Pink Princess and was horrified. Dirty, Durty, Dirty!!! It’s only been a week since I got my new gloves and plant wipes- and cleaned for the first time, and I shouldn’t be surprised as all my plants are out back on the patio….but wow. So- sat out there cleaning all the plants (well, not the cacti!). Look at this dirt!! Gloves and wipe from just 2 plants are both - gross. Bad plant mom! #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PlantTherapy #TheWateringHole #GregGang #SucculentLove #Philodendron #PothosPack
My boyfriend's giant monstera is so gross I don't even want to look at it when I go over 🫣🫣🫣 It's in the corner of his living room and it's SO DIRTY! Like, YEARS of dust layers on it, probably 😳😳😳 But of course I can't say anything about it because he gets so touchy about me "making jabs" at the messiness of his house 🙄🙄 Like, dude, I live in chaos, too, I'm not judging you for the clutter. I AM, however, judging the same dirty dishes in the sink as the first time I went over two years ago and the level of dust on all of his plants 🤦🏻‍♀️😂😂 I just can't do it out loud.
@SillyPlantGirl so funny you’re posting this as I JUST went to water one of my snake plants 🪴 🐍 and he was filthy!!! He got a 🛀 shower 🚿 🧼🫧 right away!!!!! 🤪 😆 😝
Where did you get the gloves 🧤 and wipes??
Hi Marian! Both on Amazon. Gloves- https://a.co/d/06mZsZKS and the wipes- https://a.co/d/01pnHurF …there’s no scent to the wipes and I like that it has neem oil in them. I was able to use one wipe on both Pink Princess plants, and my Neon and Jade Pothos. It was 97 degrees so I’m sure it dried out faster than normal. I did a fine spray of water on it just to finish them. Oh and I did my Ruby Rubber tree too. I imaging you could use baby wipes if they’re unscented (not positive as I haven’t had use of a baby wipes in over 40 years! lol) but I like the neem in them.
@SpyderLily hi Alexandra! Omg you had me almost have an accident! Oh…the stories I could tell on my husband 😂😂 I learned that if my husband didn’t do something, I had to do it myself. Including mowing the yard at midnight (we lived in Alaska then)- and I never had to do that again (at least not in Alaska). The dishes tho….omg!!! Girl- no. 🫣🤭😂
@SillyPlantGirl I’m sure I’ve got some that need to have the leaves wiped. You’re not a bad plant mom—just a busy plant mom! At least that’s the excuse I’m using for myself.
@SillyPlantGirl Was there any problem with leaves getting burned from sun or grow lights after using those wipes? Those gloves and wipes would make a good gift for my step daughter!
@RefinedSandwort I like that…busy plant mom! No joke there…hours every day taking care of them. I’m just embarrassed I let it get that dirty…everything else I’m OCD about. Well- add 1 more to the list!! When I cleaned the leaves- I moved them all under the patio so none were in the sun during and after. I’ve heard Neem causes issues if sprayed in the sun and left wet. The wipes are wet, but not- more like damp? I used the gloves first to get the heavy dirt, then the wipe, and then used my 2nd pair of gloves after to get anything leftover. I think it would make a great gift!!!!
@SillyPlantGirl genius!!!
Ppssst put it outside in a light rain these things love it lol. Also fun fact that isn’t so fun. Water spots on your leaves stop or at the very least slow photosynthesis & it actually can become a problem. Citrus for example variegated more commonly will have issues bc of this & wont fruit. Recently purchased a calamondin orange that was sprayed with hard water, poor thing is absolutely covered in water spots & so much foliage “not one bloom or fruit” trees is 3 feet or taller and all of my fruit trees have fruit except for this one guess I’ll go clean more of these leaves it’s been over a week process rain hasn’t washed off the spots sadly wet wash cloth it is!! Would never use a store bought wipe full of chemicals ewww
@OhGollyItsJolly I live in Texas- where *when* it rains- it’s very hard, or is accompanied by hail. Or- we get no rain for months. I protect my plants from weather. And it’s a good thing I read I ingredient lists because these wipes have absolutely nothing in them that will harm any plants.
@SillyPlantGirl I live at the Crystal coast of Nc we get absolutely blasted with rain & 130mph winds lol not saying put them outside in a hailstorm. Just saying if it’s lightly raining put it outside get some of Gods good Grace all plants deserve to live a real life?
“Outside trimming these big oak beaches b4 these hurrrr cans come a bangin” growls 🤦🏻‍♂️🏴‍☠️it’s good for them so they don’t rot out past the canbium 🫶🏽
