When i saw this plant I didnt even know it existed and I was so amazed I even forgot she was a Calethia, which I said I would never own again." Ms Big Leaf Smalls a beautiful red Veined Prayer Plant was My "Show Plant " for a long time in my two year Plant Parent Career. People were amazed how a Newbie could keep this fussy whiny plant so beautiful AND without distilled or rain H20. Just TAP! And then out of the blue her color started to fade.... I couldn't figure it out ..Then I saw "spider mites". She didnt want to live if she couldn't be beautiful and neem oil , etc..nothing worked. And she finally rather be dead, than be here..I thought maybe she was mad at me because as soon as I found out about the spider mites , she got quarantined and I never brought her back into "General Population"; (too scared 😱). So she paid me back by dying on me.

@DaringColtsfoot Mine was at the beginning of my plant journey, and I think mine died because I used tap- and we have super hard tap. I did switch to distilled, but I am sure it was too late. I had grow lights but they were the wrong “blurple” ones. Because Calathea grow on tropical forest floor- you have to be careful if the intensity and placement of lights…ugh it’s so much!!
@SillyPlantGirl well, iam using distilled water a grow light . Light meter..idk what else i can do
