Hello #thewateringhole friends! I was looking for a little humidity dome for my baby Alocasia Jacklyn today, and realized I could turn an old vase over and stick her under there until she grows a bit more. And as you can see, the bottom half of her semi hydro setup is currently a yogurt container- didn’t want to buy a whole setup when she will soon outgrow it. It made me think of other things I’ve repurposed for plants, such as the beautiful ceramic berry strainer for a little orchid I have, and a couple of thrifted bowls and plates I use as saucers, or to hold plants steady on a wire frame shelf. What things have you repurposed, on purpose or because needs- must? Good evening everyone. I hope you are doing well. This is my blanket plant that I bought at the County master gardeners nursery about three months ago. It has not stopped blooming. A friend of mine also has one and hers has not stopped blooming either. Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a plant bloom this much. Hello everyone. It’s a hot one in Central Florida today. The heat index is 111 with an actual heat of 94. It started raining out, and it is cooling things down a little. I moved to a very rural area of Florida many years ago. I took all the swamp photos that I post. This is a photo of the Withlacoochee River which is lined with thousands of Cypress trees and is near my house. This photo is located off a bike trail. 5 months ago I moved to a new home, and had to cut my plant collection from over 100 to just 15 of my most favourites to take with me. 😭 but since then I’ve been working on building it back up and finding ways to incorporate more plants in our home. I’m nowhere near done and many of these corners still need a lot of work. Herb’s delivery! I want a little herb wild. 🤪 🌿🌬️ She had some of my favorites in stock, so I had to get them. I wasn’t expecting them to arrive so quickly. So now I’m anxiously awaiting the other mix now. Ugh, this is why people say: plan ahead..🧐🤨. Ain’t foresight just beautiful? 🤦‍♀️😂😅 Live and learn, but please just live, you little herby dudes! Hello, Here is my Dragon’s Breath plant I just put it out in full sun that 8+ hours of the blazing Florida sun ☀️. She seems to really like it, so far. I am keeping a close eye on her. So some jealous Karen neighbors out where I stay out called the fire marshal and complained about my plants on the balcony I now I have to bring in all my plants. They can't be outside. The fire marshal said it was a fire hazard and somebody might trip. 🤦‍♀️. My plants have been sitting on that balcony in the summer for 2 years. Never any complaints. I had to bring in 30 plants. So of course I had to order another grow light 🙄. Not too sure about the placement. I feel like just the front ones are getting light. It finally came! Well, one part; the last part of my soil mix. I got sweet pea flowers; I love the smell of sweet pea flowers. While they are super toxic to our furry friends, my dogs and cats have shown zero interest. Thank goodness! 😅 We now have sweet pea photos! Hello everyone. Here is my Prickly Pear Cactus. It was very small with only a single “patty “ when I discovered it growing in the back of my property. That was about four years ago. While mowing I almost ran it over. I stopped, got a pot out of my garage and put it in a small pot then successively larger pots. It has grow so much . It’s now in the biggest pot I can find and outgrowing that.
