Yay it’s Friday 🥳!! Although retired now I still like weekends because then all my ‘not retired’ friends aren’t working! 😆 🎉 Hoya Heaven ☁️ 😇 in July at my Oasis🏡 🌸🌿🍃🌼. Pubicalyx is in full drippy juicy bloom. Krimson Queen leaf is blushing pink 🩷 + peduncle popping out and 2 tiny pink bébe leaves 🍃💕 Last two are post sulfur treatment, only the first go round & already showing happy signs of new growth 🪧 🍃- Hoya Chelsea and Burtoniae 🌱. Today is orchid watering 💦 day 😊. Always fun to get in and look 👀 close up! Hopefully some signs of new roots or spikes 🙃🫢🤫🫣 What’s happening in your oasis and gardens? I was over dropping off some caladiums to family and a few friends and just had to share how beautiful they have gotten. Three or four actually have flowers! Which is so exciting to me. Happy Monday! I purchased my White Queen Caladium as a tuber (photo attached). Therefore, I’ve had the pleasure of watching the growth completely from start to finish. I noticed a couple weeks ago that there was some growth that didn’t look familiar to me. Keep in mind this is my first caladium ever. I let the plant do its thing and I just watched. But every day I would look at the “weird” growth and think….. why the heck won’t this leaf unfurl. Until this morning. It dawned on me. Is it possible my Caladium is blooming? AND CLICK. I THINK THATS EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING. Happy Monday! Rainy day today on Long Island, but the green is Lush! I picked up these 2 new Alocasia (one looks just like a philodendron golden crock without the color) but is a type of Alocasia I never heard of. My caladium bloom has went to sleep (wasn’t pollinated) so it redirected its energy towards the leaves, and she’s big and beautiful and full. New leaf coming on my monstera New leaf unfurled & new leaf coming on my ruby ficus New leaf coming on my 3 kings syngonium Prayer plant props are pushing out new growth 🙌🏻🙌🏻 I have blue mint monstera and Burle Marx in their humidity domes. Still some rust fungus appearing on my regular mint monstera. I’m 4 treatments in, and although there’s new growth- it’s localized. So I do believe I stopped the spread. And that my friends is my Monday update! I had a little side quest tonight while it was pouring outside. I had picked up these small plastic moss poles and figured I would try to attach one of my snow queen cuttings to see if I can train it to climb. It was my first time packing my own moss pole- I just used a simple sphagnum moss, soaking it for about 15 minutes before ringing it out. Not soaking wet, but definitely wet. I lightly tied the vine to the pole with the roots into the moss. I also used the Craft aroid mix from Grow queen. I’ve recently switched all my aroids to this mix and the plants seem to enjoy it as much as I do😂 A very fun first experience. Ive been absolutely loving my plants! I do gotta say…..everything about them is highly addicting. Happy Monday! I took a cutting from my mom’s prayer plant that was dead. Basically the only cutting with some life left. I stuck her in some water…. When I first saw this plant among the real ones at a local grocery store I thought it was a fake someone left there. Turns out its real which makes it so neat I had never seen one like it. So I have a beautiful zebrina alocasia in my kitchen, and she’s gone absolutely wild this summer. The smallest leaf is the oldest leaf, and the largest is the youngest. You can see her growth difference. I LOVE monosilicic acid; it works beautifully for alocasias. This particular one, I’ve grown from a corm and is a few years old now. So after a disappointing day at work. I decided that I was finally going to drive over to Home Depot. I hate driving on that side of town. If bumper cars and the Indy 500 had a baby it would be that side of town. I have been seeing all over Facebook that Home Depot had Hoyas. They do!!!! 😍 So many at different prices. I didn't find the one I was looking for but I did pick up some cuties. I also got a echeveria article frost at Lowes the other day. I saw a woman on Facebook that used a metal ring as a trellis for a hoya. I attached it with the hook. I just wish I could find somewhere to hang it 😕.
