This beautiful discoloration appeared on my monstera deli...
This beautiful discoloration appeared on my monstera deliciosa leaf almost 4 weeks ago. When I first saw it I said โWOW THAT IS BEAUTIFULโ until I quickly remembered my deliciosa is not veriagated๐ญ I got very nervous for her.
Here we are almost 4 weeks later- the patch has not changed size or color, the leaves are still beautifully glossy and firm, no brown edges or crispy tips, no wet tissue, and is actively growing and completely attached to the moss pole with aerial roots.
My research told me this can happen for a multitude of reasons, and also that the leaf could basically be unbothered even with that spot. Ever seen or heard of that before?
I donโt knew what caused it, but Iโm gonna take it as luck. Because I personally think itโs beautiful๐คทโโ๏ธ Hopefully she stays with me:) I shall update #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PropagationStation #SucculentLove #PlantTherapy #GrowLights #NewPlantMom #MonsteraMonday #PlantCorner

@Drebsky Hi Brandon. Do you have a grow light that was shining right there while it was unfurling or shortly after? Or a shaft of sunlight perhaps? Looks to me like possibly the start of a sunburn. ๐ค
@DreamMachine hi Nadia!
I do have grow lights on her and she sits in bright indirect sun as well. But sheโs been in the same spot for a very long long time and produced her first fenestrations ect there. So I know the spot itโs in is great for the plant.
The thing is, this leaf is not new. Itโs one of the oldest leaves actually. This seemed to just occur randomly and the discoloration is not spreading. Itโs looked like this for almost 4 weeks. I would think the damage would be a lot worse.
The plant is super healthy so Iโm unsure what it is, but I donโt think itโs anything with sun or grow lights

@Drebsky ah, I see. Is this the oldest leaf? Or just one of the older leaves? And do you fertilize at all? Iโm afraid Iโm turning off the lights now , but Iโll respond again in the morning!
@DreamMachine just one of the older leaves, but definitely not the oldest. I have never fertilized her.
I honestly think like itโs a sector of altered chlorophyll ๐คทโโ๏ธ I read that a plant can sometimes have a localized loss of chlorophyll and I think thatโs what Iโm seeing.
Because if it was any other factor I feel as if the whole plant would have shown signs. Not just this one random leaf.
Have a great night Nadia! Talk soon
