My new babies arrived today! The four I’ve been waiting for months to arrive; finally arrived! Yay! Then my Hoya surprise plants came today! The seller is amazing and I’m blown away by the amazing packaging and quality she put into this! I’m in love! 🥰 So excited, this is the kind of pee your pants excited! Hello my loves! 🥰🌿 It’s a wet drizzly 🌧️☔️💦🌲🌲🌲Wednesday here in the PNW, and I had roughly 1 billion pounds of library books to return today. But luckily my library is only a three minute walk, I had my trusty wagon, (complete with a VERY classy 💅🏼 clear trash bag to protect my books 📚 ), and I just adore walking through the mini two-acre nature preserve that sits right next to the library. 🌲🌲🪾🌲🪵🌿 I have a book recommendation for those that have gotten interested in botany. I ended up buying the book because I love it so much. Botany in a Day, by Thomas J. Elpel Instead of learning plants one at a time, this book helps you recognize and learn the PATTERNS of the FAMILIES of the plants. 🪴 Once you have the families down, you could potentially recognize a plant in the wild, and know something about it, even if you don’t know its name! There’s also many pages of quick guides, to things like flower terms 🌻 leaf shapes 🍃and plant family keys 📖. I can’t recommend it enough! Plus one more pic of my new geogenanthus poeppigii because I love him so much 🥰🥰🥰 How are you all doing today? I’ve had a busier day today; it’s been cooler, so I’ve been taking advantage and starting seeds for my family’s different gardens. Hopefully, they all make a decent start 🤞. I’ve had a couple of nights of frost, and all my plants I can’t cover have just bombed in leaves. Hello my loves! 🥰🌿 Happy Friday!! How has your week been? ♥️ I had a magical, or religious experience (pick what you like 😁) in the forest 🌲🌲🌲a couple days ago, and am still feeling the benefits. 🧘‍♀️☮️😌 Powell Butte Nature Park is only 6 minutes away from me and I’m kicking myself that I haven’t spent every single weekend there! (I’d only ever been there as a late-night college reveller OR more recently, barely inside the borders with elementary children for a picnic) 🥴 I can’t believe I didn’t know the trails through the forest existed, and we only did maybe a quarter of them. 😱🌲🪾🌲🌲🪺🍄🌲🌸 As we got under the canopy, everything became suddenly hushed, except for the songbirds and ravens. Lovely old trees covered with moss and ferns. Trilliums on the forest floor and pacific wrens flitting around. Here’s some pictures for your perusal of my new favorite happy place. ☺️ And tell me: what is YOUR happy place? Ahhhh thank you so much @vvvelo !!! 🤯🤩🥳 My succulents from Volodymyr’s giveaway arrived and I couldn’t be more thrilled! Look at all these BÉBÉS 😱😱 #vladimirgivessucculentsaway #volodymyrgivessucculentsaway #vvvelogivessuccs I might need a little help with identifying, if anyone can assist, as the only one I think I know, is the jade, and then perhaps that’s a walking aloe? 😂 Or is it climbing? 🤔 I am determined to do right by these cuties! I live in a predominately wet, cool climate (except for a couple months of dry summer) so if anyone could tell me if they think this substrate is a good mix for succulents in my climate (that tends to make things stay damp for longer)? -1/2 my own mixed substrate (which is 1/3 coir, 1/3 orchid bark, 1/3 perlite) -1/2 bonsai jacks gritty mix Thank you again @vvvelo ! Hello my loves! 🥰🌿 It’s #untidytuesday at the #TheWateringHole and holy moly I’m just realizing I don’t think I’ve posted in over a week! 😱 Not intentional, it was rather a hard last couple weeks. Busy/Easter madness/emotional roller coaster. 🎢 Now I just want to take a nap 😴 But I also have 41 plants 🪴 to check in on first 😮‍💨 The other night I sleep-bought a new fertilizer. Okay I *was* vaguely aware of what I was doing but I thought I just put it in my cart…nope! It arrived next day LOL! Anyhoo, if you’re in the market for a good organic fertilizer that literally smells like chicken poo 💩 , boy have I got you covered! But it helped me realize that even though my usual superthrive foliage pro is a vibrant green color—it DOESN’T smell like poo 💩 🙌 That is a HUGE plus to me I never realized, and wow, I totally took that for granted! Here’s some things going on in my neck of the woods. My beautiful begonia maculara flowering, again! Mushroom kit growing. the fertilizer. And some of my little seedlings! Monstera tips!! Hi friends! When I was given this monstera this poor leaf was already munched on, I’ve let it be for maybe two months or more now. And the newest leaf was still soft and never hardened and matured. I moved her to this corner and I think I can see the beginning of what will be new growth?? Tips please!! I was so excited to be able to get out of the house today, and on the way home from the doctor, my mum stopped at a local nursery. She got some gorgeous little show stoppers! Then she just happened to magically find herself at checkout with a plant I’d be wanting for… forever! 🤔 Myers Asparagus Fern… ferns and I are just barely starting to like each other, they’ve been my sadly misunderstood plants that I sorely have attempted to understand… I’m sure they all have a few thorny - ferny fiddle head love hardships.. 🙃 (I know, me and side rants..) okay, it was so weird. We really had no idea who put the fern up there. I was in a separate part of the plants when I heard my mom laughing, saying, “It’s not hers and she didn’t know where it came from, but maybe I do?” I said no, but I want one! So my mom was an angel and just said…”it made itself into the cart. How could I say no? It was coming home with me whether or not we knew it.”… “so NOW stop cooing over the plants! Okay all, I am wondering if I should wait until closer to fall to repot my two monstera. (Monsteri?) I’m also in need of different support. I have the plastic D curve, but my pothos almost died when I had it in the pot. 🤷‍♀️ May have been due to user error admittedly! Last, in my monstera deliciosa, where should I place the new support?
