My sister is moving into a new house and when I went inside to have a look around I saw this staggered shelf table in a corner. I commented that I've been looking for something just like it to put in my living room so I can move my monstera and a couple of other plants over to the windows (they've been living on my kitchen counter). AND SHE TOLD ME TO TAKE IT!! 😍😍😍 It's obviously built to be a corner table BUT I'LL MAKE IT WORK! 😂 I'm now considering mounting a moss pole to the wall for Athena. 🤔🤔 What do you guys think?? (I'm also going to repot her, she's growing out the bottom of that one 🫣🫣)

@DreamMachine She will more or less get the same amount of light on the top as she would on one of the lower levels, especially if I raise the blinds a little more 🤔🤔 Plus I'm planning on mounting a moss pole on the wall for her. I'll see how this works out for a bit, and if I need to I could swap her with the philodendron. He needs a moss pole, as well LOL
@FunLentenrose37 This is very very weird for me. I've had those blinds closed for YEARS, only opening them in the winter when it snows 😂😂 It's going to take a LOT of getting used to 😳😅🤣 But hey, gotta sacrifice for the children, right? 😂
That’s brilliant! What a great idea. You can get the little strip lights too and stick them on the lower level of maximum shelving. Ohh! I just love your Athena. She’s breathtaking. If you don’t want to do moss poles, you can do Australian tree fern poles too. Just an idea. Keep it posted however you decide to do it. I am sure it’s going to be beautiful. Can’t wait to see. - and your sister was so sweet to let you have that, she knew you needed it! 🥰
@Idplantthat Well she currently is not allowed to drive, so several times in the last few weeks I have driven her to the store and whatnot. This morning I took her into the city to fill out onboarding paperwork at her new school and then to a pharmacy. She said it was her way of saying 'Thank you' LOL She apparently wanted to get rid of it, anyway, so it worked out perfectly 🤗🤗
BTW, Athena was a Valentine's gift from my boyfriend. He doesn't believe in giving cut flowers so sometimes I get plants, instead 😂

When I texted my next door neighbour pictures she loved it, and then she asked me why I didn't tell them I needed a plant stand sooner because her husband would have built me one to fit right there (he builds furniture for a living) 🤦🏻♀️😂😂 I said I didn't think about it, and I certainly wouldn't have wanted to cut into his work time. Plus I don't really have any spare money lately. She said it would have been a gift because they consider me part of their family 🥹🥹🫶🏻🫶🏻🥰 I honestly have the best neighbours anyone could ever ask for 😩😩🤗😍🖤🖤

That philodendron is beautiful! I have a love of philodendrons, hmm… where that patch of brown is it in a highly variegated area by chance?
@Idplantthat Very much so, probably the most variegated part of the entire plant. And she also has a brown spot on the edge of one of her fenestrations.
@SpyderLily Alexandra, I’ll pose this question to our resident expert 🥰 Hi Shannon @SuperbRaspfern ♥️ It was my thought that when the variegated areas turn brown like this, that it was a sign of the plant needing higher light. Since the areas with more chlorophyll need to work harder to keep the variegated areas looking like they do, the white and cream areas are the first to bite the dust in lower light? Is this accurate? Or is there another reason at work here? 🙏♥️🌻
@debbiedo ... that's actually my cat's chair, and I'm going to move it out of the living room because she hasn't used it in months. Now her favourite place to sleep is on the seat of my stationary bike. 😂😂 She has been hanging out there for the last couple of weeks. Before that it was the armrest of my couch, and before THAT, the floor just behind/beneath her chair for a month or so 🤦🏻♀️🙄🤷🏻♀️ So finicky! 😂
@SpyderLily I’m not sure, but I know variegated plants can get what’s called melting, and I experience it with my variegated plants, but it could also be caused by sunburn if it’s only in the very variegated tissue. That’d be what it is. 😉
