Hello everyone and good morning.  here is a good article I was reading. I thought I would share. 🌸Definition of Soil Substrate Soil substrate is a prepared earth that acts as a support for plants. It provides essential nutrients and facilitates drainage and water absorption, which are crucial for healthy plant growth. Types of Soil Substrate Soil substrates can vary based on their composition and intended use. It’s Saturday afternoon and despite the forecast of grey clouds ☁️ all day, we’ve got some sunshine ☀️! The last few days were hectic so happy to just hang out today, water some of the 40 waiting for 💦, get some laundry 🧺 done and watch a little baseball ⚾️ 😄. Had to show off my tricolor wayetii who is back in full bloom, again! She gets the award 🏆🥇for blooming. Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a great day and you and your plants are growing. I visited the county master gardeners’s nursery this morning. I bought another giant plum ginger and a passion vine. I am going to start building a couple of these tables for my plants. I thought I would share it here. Here’s what they use in their nursery, two by fours and hardware cloth which is quarter inch chicken wire supported by cinder blocks. The dimensions are 8 foot long by 22 inches wide . #Philodendron My two new philos! I’m upset my El Choco Red is a little damaged with washed out color so I hope I can get it to come back. This Black Cardinal on the other hand is gorgeous! Good morning everyone. It’s going to be another hot one in West Central Florida today. I got up at 6:30 AM and finished mowing the front of my property. I’m now sitting in a chair outside eating a banana and drinking some coffee. I planted this banana last year and it was doing very well. Then a, very unusual, frost hit Florida in January. It was unusual because we had two weeks in a row of freezing and below freezing weather. In my 48 years of living in Florida, I’ve not seen that much cold weather at one time. I covered the banana bush multiple times with multiple blankets. Despite all that the frost killed it all the way down to the ground level. This is another plant that I thought I had lost. I cut off all the dead stuff mulched it into the dirt around the plant. Now it is doing very well. I haven’t added it to my oasis until today. Thank you for reading this mini blog. I am THRILLED that my little-hoya-that-could has its first bloom!!! She’s a 1 year old (from cuttings off of a much older plant) that has just defied expectations in growth. And the smell is….DRUMROLL PLEASE…feet! 1000 year old feet! Lolol Or possibly swampa$$? Volleyball socks that were left in a bag for four weeks? A decomposing body? 😆😆🤣🤣🤢🤢🥴😵😵‍💫It’s sooooo bad! Lol!! I’m torn because it’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen! What’s crazy is that if you put your nose to the blooms, it smells like chocolate! But my entire sunroom smells terrrible from it. #TheWateringHole #HappyHumpDay How are y’all on this lovely Wednesday? I cannot believe that it’s already afternoon. Anyway it’s time to pay attention to some plants in the oasis! A few even might need a little water, go figure. Different subject. My neighbor retired, this past Monday was her last day. She had two plants in her office, one a huge Pothos the other a lovely Sanseveria someone gifted her, and she will be keeping, The Giant Pothos I‘ve inherited since she said she has no idea how to take care of this plant, no matter how much I tried to assure her that these are the easiest plants to care for. (She’s a cat 🐈‍⬛ person) The maintenance man took care of the plants she had been keeping in her office. Well now I have a huge Pothos sitting on my shelf. News from the Oasis, while I was inspecting the cacti yesterday I came across this dude (Mammillaria Bocasana) still producing little cute flowers!! The Mammillaria Matudae is still flowering as well. Once the spent blooms all dried out and turn brown I will have to remove them, since I don’t want to grow seeds. As some of you might remember, my energy level has been missing for the past few weeks. I have diagnosed myself; I‘ve come to the conclusion that I‘m suffering from a severe case of „Task Paralysis“. Since my energy level is practically nonexistent. Or maybe I just need to have my head examined!! On that note have a great rest of the Week everyone and take care, stay cool 😜!!
