Anyone know what kind of cactus this is? @SirLiquorice

@vvvelo
4” pot with drainage
Last watered 3 years ago
@FirstCanna It looks like some sort of mammillaria. Mine is a Golden Pincushion, but I would think spiny pincushion.But it could also be a golden barrel cactus. What did Greg say it was?
We need @KikiGoldblatt with her magic app 🀩
@ChaosPlains greg didn’t know
@FirstCanna did the container you got it in say anything? That can help. For example on the side of Citrine’s original container it just said Mammillaria but @KikiGoldblatt could DEFINITELY help
@ChaosPlains nope nothing @vvvelo I used google lens and it said golden barrel
does this look like it…(I’m not trying to be annoying just tryin to help)
Naw it’s got a slimmer figure lol
What color was the flower?
@SirLiquorice it’s a wine red color

That’s yellow but looks close
Very close I think!
But it seems cacti can be the same type and still have different color flowers
@SirLiquorice I don’t as wondering about that… lol
I have two of the same gymnoclaycium and one is dark red and the other is orange almost and changes to pink over time
Its blooming again. This was yesterday they are about to open again now
@SirLiquorice then that settles it… it’s a lemon ballπŸ˜‚
@SirLiquorice those are gorgeous!!!!
@SirLiquorice can it be a lemon ball with a wine twist? 🀣🀣🀣
@FirstCanna I think it could possibly. Even the fertilizer can change the flower colors. So many variables and hybrids could possibly be slightly different. Do you have any other pics of it flowering or closer up pics?
@SirLiquorice No the flower hasn’t opened up I just got it today…
Oooh that’s cool then. It looks like it’s about to bloom any day now. That will really help determine what it is getting to see the flower sometimes. But it does look like those lemon balls. Also harder to tell when they are small sometimes. Once it grows up you’ll be able to tell easier. Just make sure it stays dry. It’s weird that trying to take care of them is what usually kills them. Lol
