Calatheas are difficult. Keep her in bright indirect light but don’t let the sun hit her directly, even putting a plant or object in front to avoid it.

Only water with rainwater or water that has been sitting out overnight (at least) because they’re extremely sensitive to chemicals in water.

Humidity is key. Consider a humidifier (I have mine in one every day or so) or a pebble tray with water for her. She’s an Amazonian plant used to 80% humidity.

I, personally, do not recommend a grow light, but I have seen people here on Greg that use them to grow theirs. I grow mine the way I put it, and she’s thriving.

Oh! And remember to fertilize accordingly :)
@livslillies i have mine under a grow light now but even when I had it 3 feet from a South window, mine stood out straight and go straight up at night. It might be droopy from not enough light but mainly I would think it's either thirsty or not getting enough humidity.
@ModestHardbeech i think im giving it plenty of water… do you know of any specifications between lack of water and lack of humidity symptoms? οΏΌ
@livslillies humidity is most evident when droopy with crispy brown edges or spots. They way I personally test it is I give it a shower without wetting the soil. This helps me test it's humidity needs but has the dual benefit of cleaning the leaves and removing any tiny pests I can't see.
@livslillies i didn't clarify well. If the leaves droop less a little while after the shower, then i know it needs more humidity
Let’s not forget that Calathea plants are divas πŸ˜†
Hi @livslillies!😊
I am just adding, do you know that it is actually droppy?

To me it looks quite healty in the pictures. And as you have it in low light, it will be normal for it to bend down its leaves more to collect what light it can get.

In adequate light they will normally move their leaves a little down during daytime to collect light, and up in "prayer" during night. But with too little or too much light their movement might be less visual.πŸͺ΄

As to lack of water or humidity, they will usually start curling their leaves a little and you can feel it on their leaves more than you can see that it is droppy in my experience. If the leaves feels firm, I would say you are fine.
@MockingJay thank you so much for the tips, they’re great! are you saying that if the leaves feel soft that it may need more humidity? i purchased a mister today and gave her a good shower and she perked right up !!
@livslillies you are very welcome 😊
Yes if the leaves feel soft it might need more humidity, but it could also indicate there is a watering-issue. Too much or too little water (or too much fertilizer) will also result in sloppy leaves.πŸͺ΄
Too little humidity will usually also give crispy edges.
@MockingJay okay so too much water and too little humidity = soft leaves ?
@livslillies correct 😊 But also too little waterπŸ˜†
