Hello my loves! 🥰🌿 It’s a wet drizzly 🌧️☔️💦🌲🌲🌲Wednesday here in the PNW, and I had roughly 1 billion pounds of library books to return today. But luckily my library is only a three minute walk, I had my trusty wagon, (complete with a VERY classy 💅🏼 clear trash bag to protect my books 📚 ), and I just adore walking through the mini two-acre nature preserve that sits right next to the library. 🌲🌲🌲🪵🌿
I have a book recommendation for those that have gotten interested in botany. I ended up buying the book because I love it so much.
Botany in a Day, by Thomas J. Elpel
Instead of learning plants one at a time, this book helps you recognize and learn the PATTERNS of the FAMILIES of the plants. 🪴 Once you have the families down, you could potentially recognize a plant in the wild, and know something about it, even if you don’t know its name! There’s also many pages of quick guides, to things like flower terms 🌻 leaf shapes 🍃and plant family keys 📖. I can’t recommend it enough!
Plus one more pic of my new geogenanthus poeppigii because I love him so much 🥰🥰🥰
How are you all doing today? Are your plants waking up yet or do you still have sleepyheads? 🥰🥱🫶

@DreamMachine Sounds like the walk through the "woods" was neat!! Pics are lovely!!! 😍
@DreamMachine Hey squirrely 🐿️ girlie! Your walk looks so peaceful. One day I'm going to make it to our library. Also your plants crinkly leaves are absolutely amazing!! 😍 It finally stopped raining here!! 3 solid days was plenty! We are in a drought and needed it badly. It was a nice change of pace. I've only brought 1 picture for show and tell. My Krohniana Splash gave me my first ever Hoya Peduncle!!! Weee Woo!!! 😄🎉🎉🎉 Have a wonderful rest of your day!!
@luvmygreenhouse thank you, it was lovely 🥰 I was huffing and puffing up the woods hill with my wagon on the way to, though 😂😂
@DreamMachine Nadia, thanks so much for the information. Such a peaceful area for a walk...beautiful! Did I mention how much I ❤️ 😍 your new 🪴? 🤭😊🥰
@princesspitstop woohoo, three whole days 🙌 🌧️ ☔️ 🌧️ 🌧️ 🌧️ Your plants are going to be so happy with that, and I hope it helped with the drought situation🥰
Your krohniana splash…😱😱🤩 That’s a pedunkadunk to remember forever!! Those blooms look so adorably fuzzy 😍 Here’s me cheering for you!! 📣🥳🥳🥳

@princesspitstop Congratulations on your pedunkle! 🥳 It's gorgeous 😍
@DreamMachine
Hi sweetie pie!
How gorgeous is your walk and where you live!!!
I think the PNW is magical and a lot of fairies and elves live in the nooks and crannies of Nature. 🦄✨🎆
My granddaughter Nezzie, who just celebrated her 13th birthday, refused to ever have an air conditioner in her bedroom window. I asked her dad the other day why she changed her mind recently and asked for one.
He said: "Because Nezzie wanted the fairies to visit her at night and they couldn't if an air conditioner was in her window..."
So...you are a book worm!
That's so awesome and I can imagine you pulling your wagon filled with a bazillion books, covered with that VERY classy trash bag. 😉
Learning about plants in the wild is such a good thing.
There are so many edible and medicinal species out there.
There is a group here in our County that offers different areas of nature walks during the Spring, Summer, and Fall, so people can actually see and harvest the plants, herbs, and flowers "on the spot".
Am just loving the photos you shared with us today!
A very happy housewarming for your new beloved baby geogenanthus poeppigii.
My tablet really blew up with that name and spell check went crazy 😆😆😆
So, all of you lovely people, please enjoy today and the days to come.
Nothing new here with my Tribe...about half of the 16 are settling into their new pots and I swear, they're growing more! 🤗😍

Heidi your little hoya krohniana peduncle is adorable, mine has bloomed a couple of time and it smells so lovely 😍 @princesspitstop
@GracedStrapwort thank you Deb 🥰🥰
@DreamMachine that walk through the preserve looks magical! So peaceful 😌. Thanks for the Botany in a Day 📕 recommendation. Definitely will check it out🙌. And your Geo is stunning 😍. Did a lot of outside 👀 🪴 observation today. So excited I’ve got flowers 🌼 setting on a couple of my epiphyllum cuttings from last fall. I didn’t think they’d bloom already! How rewarding 🙌. Pearl 🐕 played foreman & helped with placement of the new garden flag 😊. Last 2 pics are Rex begonias sent outside a couple of months ago “sink or swim”. Looks like they prefer the great outdoors 👍🎉🙌.
@princesspitstop yay 🎉 pedunkadunks!!!! So exciting! Do they have a scent?? 👃 🌼
@Sassylimey Thanks Sarah! I'm so excited I'm beside myself! It has attempted to bloom in the past but blasted every single one of them. 😭 I just can't stop checking on it and telling it how pretty it is 😁
@MariansOasis 👏👏👏 FINALLY!!! It kept trying. The little Krohniana that could 😆🙌 haha Yes! It smells kinda honeysuckley. A sweet floral scent. 🥰 I haven't licked it yet but will tag you when I do!! Hahaha
@princesspitstop 👅 please do! 😆
@princesspitstop look at it go!!! 😍🤩😍🤩
@CutePolypremum that story of your granddaughter warmed my heart so much!! Thanks for sharing!!
@CutePolypremum oh my goodness that is too precious about your granddaughter 🥹🥹🥹 I’ve never had ac, but if we did, I would have probably been just like her 😂☺️🥰 Plus it’s true, there ARE lots of fairies and elves here 😅🥰😂😊
I am a bookworm, from a line of bookworms 😂 My mom had, and still has, floor to ceiling bookshelves in their living room and it is always the first thing people see when they go to my parents. My mother came over and laughed when she saw my wagon full of library books to be returned, and said, “that’s how you’ve always been.” 😂🤭📚
Have you ever partaken of one of those country group walks? 😱 That sounds magical! I’m sure if I poked around, there would be some similar groups around here! The book I recommended has some really great “catch phrases” if you will, so I’ve been practicing just in case I do suddenly find myself on one of those walks!
“Mint family- square stems, opposite leaves. Mustard family- 4 petals, 4 sepals, 6 stamen 4 tall, 2 short. Rose family- 5 petals, 5 sepals, lots of stamens.”
I’ve had a lovely day, and I hope you have too 🥰 Love to you and your sweet tribe ♥️♥️♥️

Things are perking up around my house, too! What I thought might be peduncles on my Kerri might actually be new stems- which is fine since it’s such a slow grower! We will see! My dancing bones cactus is throwing off a ton of new growth which is fun to see. My sister sent me this adorable kitty propogation set 😍and my daughter got me a haworthia for my birthday coming up! 🤩Last but not least, Howie looking adorable as ever. 😘
@MariansOasis pearl you are the cutest!!!
@MariansOasis WHAT, Marian!! That epiphyllum is so cool 🤩 I just had to look it up, and giggled when I saw it called the “orchid cactus” ofc!! Is it potted even? Or will you? If not will it be mounted? The flowers are wild!
Your Begonias are 👌 Very beautiful 🤩 So glad they love the outdoors 😜😂😂

@MamaLinne ah well! I’ve had that happen to me plenty of times re Hoya vines 😂 🤪
Omg I love the kitty prop set, but OMG what is that meerkat in the background??? 😱
Beautiful haworthia, that one is on my list. Are the tips of his leaves clear??

@DreamMachine my daughter brought that back for me from Tanzania! Isn’t it adorable?? No, she couldn’t find the cymbiformis, which is the one that’s on my wish list, but said this one is to tide me over until she can get that one for me. 🥰😉
@MamaLinne so much happening in your oasis! Hoya Kerri new growth always looks like sticky alien gunk to me! Your dancing bones cactus is so full and gorgeous! How big a pot is it in? Also 💚 kitty prop present and sweet haworthia from your daughter. Howe is as always, adorable 🐈⬛ 🖤🤍
@princesspitstop So exciting!!! But f any of my Hoyas EVER bloom I’ll probably pass out from shock 😂
@MariansOasis Your begonias look lovely! And well done Pearl, that garden flag is PERFECTLY placed 😘👌🏻
@debbiedo I started fertilizing mine with a liquid fertilizer that is high in Phosphorus which is the middle number in the NPK and it bloomed right after it had been blasting. Coincidence? 😁🙌
@DreamMachine Now THAT’S how every walk to the library should be! 💚
@DreamMachine I ve got lots of orchid cactus cuttings starting after my curtain-rod-crash-fest. If they root I’ll send you some!
@MamaLinne @DreamMachine
Hello sweet ladies!
Just to let you know that I hope to answer your comments tomorrow or Saturday!
Pretty soon I'll be going across the Hudson River using the Rip van Winkle Bridge into Catskill to go to a new dentist for the first time.
As GPS and I don't get along so great, am using written directions 🙃 😅.
After that, plans are to drive on down to The Point, which is directly on the Hudson River, to enjoy the water, fresh breeze, and glorious view!
My son and his wife were married there about 15 years ago.
It was wonderful and the weather perfect 🥰
After that, hopefully an early dinner stopping along the way home.
I love ❤️ 😍 💖 you both and hope you have an amazing day!
Please think good toothy thoughts for me, at the dentist...

@DreamMachine I can’t wait for my knee to be well enough for me to take a long walk in a forest park! (Big Sigh) but it won’t be long now! I can walk to my greenhouse, that is what matters the most I suppose! I couldn’t do that for weeks! I can now! WHOOP WHOOP! 🙌👍🏻‼️😃 I am a reader to! I recently grabbed this new book by an online guy who calls himself a guru and it is surprisingly simple and really good! Just in case anyone is interested- #TheWateringHole He is funny and to the point- I enjoyed it! I hope you have a wonderful day‼️🪴😃🌿🌵🌺 OH- we haven’t had rain in Atlanta for weeks and weeks! If you know a rain dance please share it! 🤣
@CutePolypremum ooh thinking all the good toothy thoughts 🥰♥️🦷
Enjoy the view for me, that sounds like a good way to treat yourself after a dentist appt.
I don’t like gps much either! When my husband and I road tripped around the county when we first met (37 states, 12,249 miles) I navigated us the whole way using a U.S. atlas and maps!
I hope everything goes well today and I’ll be thinking of you dear Joanie!! 🥰🤗😘

@debbiedo OoOoh!! Do they do well in our environment??
@Ponytailmom ooh you’ll have to tell me how you like it. He’s pretty funny 😁
Yay for getting out to the greenhouse, wooo!! 🙌 And I will do all the rain dances I can for you!! Lord knows we’ve have plenty of rain here over the last month 🌧️ 🌧️ I’ll try to blow it your way 😘🌬️🌧️

@DreamMachine , I initially forgot about the distilled water for my zebra. 😮💨 🤦♀️ Is that why I have some dark spots? Should I trim them or leave them be? Walter is growing quite a few new leaves however!
@DreamMachine I’m new to the orchid cacti but I got them all from local people and they seem to do well with them 😁 I’d guess probably even better with you since you have more humidity 💦
@debbiedo oooOooh jungle cactus 🙌 🙌 And oh yeah 🙈 I always forget that eastern Washington (and eastern Oregon) are very much drier than where I am. I lump us ALL together!! 😂 OUR climate 😂
@HolyLacealoe that looks like a xanthosoma 🤔 Not the aphelandra squarrosa “zebra plant,” unless I’m mistaken. What kind of light is Walter in? How often are you watering and when do you water, Anna?
