I have been so busy this year that I haven't had a lot of time to be on Greg lately, but one thing I know: I want to keep it real! Since I've been so busy, some of my plants have suffered. It has been #SurvivalOfTheFittest! If you come visit #SarahsGreeenhouse or #SarahsShower, those plants no longer look like the ones in the pictures. Some look good and are #HappyPlants ... but some don't look so hot and they are clearly #NotSoHappyPlants! Since I'm being real, some are even in the #PlantGraveyard πͺ¦ π I know that some #plantfriends post the PRETTIEST most AMAZING PICTURES of plants. Also, in this age of AI, I've seen a few plants on Greg that look a little sus (as my kiddos would say). πͺ΄

I unfortunately have two plants that fit this category. My once beautiful gerbera daisy that I rescued from a windowless office of a friend. I placed it in my home PICU (Plant ICU) and managed to revive it. Pics are what it looked like brand new, droopy pic is what I rescued, and pale sadness is now. My second sad plant is my once absolutely full and gorgeous persian cyclamen which is not too full and gorgeous anymore.

The poor Philodendron Tortum was down to one leaf. And I am not good at nurturing plants or anything else for that matter. Itβs not in my DNA . But I really didnβt want to give up on this particular Philodendron due to itβs unusual look. So Iβve been keeping an eye ποΈ on it and an new leaf has grown and it looks as if another one is on itβs way. Here is my sad little monstera baby. Unfortunately the only before pic I have is my Greg oasis pic, but now look at him! He did size up with a new leaf but is not looking too hot. Look at the weird π© on the back of the leaf! Iβm pretty sure it was either a neem treatment and/or a foliar spray I used, and I mustβve put him in the sun too soon or either mixture was too strong??! Poor baby!!

I got this Dragon Scale back in October of last year. It was doing so well then it started having problems. Alocasia have always been my nemesis! I lost a few leaves due to incorrect lighting and watering. I repotted it into a smaller pot with more breathable soil then put it into a Ziploc bag for humidity. The nasty looking leaf was pressed up against the inside of the wet bag. I caught it before it completely ruined it. The top fat leaf is brand new and is on the mend. There's always a learning curve! π

my top pick for #GregVSReality would definitely be my chocolate cherry coleus.. it was a very large learning curve trying to figure out how to care for her!! I gave her too little light and she lost nearly all of that beautiful deep pink color π₯Ί afterwards she got spider mites and I had to prop and start over.. weβre (hopefully) back on the right track as that color is returning now!

Iβm so disappointed that I killed my Lemon Cypress tree. The first photo was Dec 2024 when my husband bought it for me. Second photo is from Feb 2026 and last photo is what it looks like now-dead!! I was away and it didnβt get watered during a heat wave which fried the plant. π£π’ #GregGivesBackGiveaway #GregVSReality

Great topic! I love when people share their struggles. We learn every time we lose or struggle with a plant! I have really battled long and hard to save my alsocasias Jacklyn and Frydek. Theyβre tough to keep happy! Hereβs the frydek when I got it, a month later, it melted and pretty much disintegrated in my hands. I saved a couple of tiny bits of the rhizome and hereβs what is starting to come back! I leave the original picture in my oasis so that I remember what Iβm working towards. #gregvsreality

So this is my 1 super plant saving hero story, lol no, i think I just got lucky &this dieffenbachia hung in there while I took the advice from reading on here to "just wait "give it time.....So, for once I did that after I was given that lil stem or 2 in the 1st pic.Now as you see in the2nd ....there is 3 pots/plants &I almost am ready to make a few more.lol.

#GregVSReality Just a few of my plant fails but I havenβt given up hope just yet! My only #Alocasia and the saddest #succulent.
First is Disco Ball, my pinstripe Calathea. Did well, shriveled like last week, and is now recovering lol. Second is Larry, my beloved. I donβt have a second picture because he passed away π₯². Iβm so hesitant to get another spider plant because I feel like Iβm betraying a plant (Larry) and donβt want to replace it LOL. #BobTheHippie
Hope Iβm not late! Got lots of new growth on my variegated Crassula Obliqua and Echeveria Lola compared to when I first got them. I had accidentally let my Crassulla dry out a bit too much and a whole leaf got really dry and fell off but itβs still alive and can easily grow back more! My Echeveria Lola is going strong, survived an early season repot late in the winter since it had outgrown itβs place in an assortment and has grown much fuller in its own pot! ππͺ΄βΊοΈ
Haha this is great! As for my entryβ¦. My pics are out of order, and canβt find her previous luscious photo I use for the Greg card but! My maranta used to be a showstopper, giving me little flowers 2-3x a year, but ever since the move a year ago she decided she hates it π₯² I just trimmed a giant bowlβs worth of dead stuff off LOL. I moved her to a new spot and give her rainwater now and I think sheβs bouncing back already, hereβs hoping π€
@GrowMyPretties these like humidity, but they also CRAVE sunlight! I kept mine directly under a grow light and it did well.
Just remember, pinching off the new growth at the top helps force the growth down and makes the plant bushier. (:

@sarah10orio Iβd be interested in any tricks. I was so disappointed that I went on Etsy and bought 2 new ones. They should be arriving next week but I still have Winter in his pot and continue to water the fried plant anyway!

@CutePolypremum when you want to post pics from your Oasis into a post or comment. You have to take a picture of said plant from the oasis and save it to the Photo library (thatβs if youβre using an iPhone) Then you can tap on the picture icon and in the popup you have a choice of either camera or library. If you select camera you can take a pic. And if you choose library you go there and select the plants picture you want to add to your post. I hope I didnβt confuse you too much!

If this helps at all, I have over 20 healthy calatheas and it was one of my rattlesnake calatheas that suddenly bit the dust one day and I still have NO idea what happened. Inspected thoroughly for pests, no location changes, no watering changesβnothing! It just curled up and died within a week. βοΈ π My other one is still going strong πͺ So I know you can have one again!! π

I'm not at home and won't be able to get a pic of my poors Beans. This is the before. He currently only has one teeny tiny stem with teeny tiny leaves. He barely grows at all and I'm afraid he's stunted after all the work I put into trying to save him through propogating him when he rotted right after I got him. One of my first plants and I'd like to see him pull through cuz I love his coloration.
