How to fertilize Melon cactus
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Melon cactus after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

#ThornyThursday 😉 my mom gave me a crown of thorns… when adding it to my oasis, so many different kinds of Crown of Thorns came up… & mine didn’t come with a sprecific name, so I’m not sure if it’s the right ID (Crown Of Thorns ‘Bicolor’). (Photo 4) Anyways I repotted her, & hopefully she will like it outside… I’m wondering if it is similar to my African Milk Bush, & will prefer morning sun, & afternoon shade. I noticed my AMB (African milk bush) started yellowing leaves if left in full sun all day, like my other succulents. It seems to prefer morning sun, with afternoon shade during the hotter hours of the day. This is my first crown of thorns, so idk if they will be similar in that way, but any care advice would be greatly appreciated! I also wanted to share some #BloomingCactus / #BloomingSuccs My Varigated Melon cactus, (Photos 1-3) has the teensiest CUTEST FLOWERR ever starting to form… I know she is small, you may even have to squint to be able to tell it’s a flower… but it is! I’m so happy, this is one of favorite plants/cactus. I haven’t had her very long either, I’m telling you guys the fertilizer I use for my #Succulents has been impressing me this year! So many new blooms on varieties that haven’t bloomed for me before, & it’s usually after repotting with new soil with added in slow release granular succulent fertilizer. I get it from Home Depot & it truly does work for a great price & the bottle will last you a while, depending on how often you repot & the size of the planter. I hope you guys enjoy the cactus updates, & everyone is having a great Thursday… it’s almost the weekend, amirite! 😅 #HappyPlants #NewPlant #NewPlants #CrownOfThorns #Cactus #CactusClique #Cacti #SucculentSquad #SucculentLove #Succulent #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #OutdoorGrowing #PlantLove #variegatedplants #MelonCactus #GrowingSuccs #flowerpower #Blooming #BloomingSuccs

Is it okay to hold the catcus to drain it out by the pricks? #MelonCactus

#happyplants I can't seem to shake whatever this thing is. It only crawls. I cannot tell the difference between Thrips, gnat babies, or the helpful ones whose name I can't remember. Can any of y'all assist? Note that I have put it through a host of cleanings over the last months.

Take a look at my babies🥰 Pulled out my tiny microscope today to get some close-ups on the new-borns. They started sprouting about 4 weeks ago. They are smaller than a needle pin head, and are just starting to get their first spines 🤗 #cactusclique #seedlings #newgrowth #whatthesuccwednesday #happyplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantaddict #underthelens

Cacti cultivating! I have just started reading about the Melocactus Bahiensis, from which I have gathered and sowed seeds from last week.👀 Aaand I am hoping I am blessed with a lucky charm for difficult plants (as I had success with the first Calathea I got when I knew nothing).😅 Well. For anyone interested, some of my seeds have indeed started sprouting!👶👶 I am so excited 😄 And also so nervous as all I am reading now is that this cacti is for experienced cacti cultivators. And I have never done this before😂 So wish me luck! And any advice is gratefully received😄🌵 Sorry for bad photo, but I don't want to open the zip-bag they are in😅 If you know they are there you might see one or two green dots (there are 6)🙈💚💚 #cactusclique #cactus #melocactus #cultivatedflax #whatthesuccwednesday #succulentsquad #succulentlove #newgrowth #happyplants #adhdplantlovers

Is this a good decision? #ChaoticPlainsUpdates I’m getting a new pot for Pyrite the pot is going to be terracotta because he struggles with the soil being wet for too long. Will that fox the issue? I don’t want him to rot. I’ve been sparing with watering so he’s been fine, but He gets squishy every now and then and it takes him a while to recover. Is this the right decision? #CactusClique #Cactus #Cacti #SucculentSquad #Succulents #Succulent

Why is the soil draining so fast? ☘️WARNING THIS IS LONG☘️ So about a month ago is switched Pyrite <0.5m away from a window (See the picture). Here’s the thing…his soil has been draining in 2-3 days and he’s been kinda pale. The window gets LOTS of sun and LOTS of heat. So could it be the change in scenery? There’s rocks in the soil so I’m surprised it’s draining so fast. I think the paleness is just too much sun (I forgot to rotate him), but I’m worried it might be something else (bc the soil drains so quickly). Is it possible the soil is hydrophobic?? If so what do i do? #SucculentSquad #CactusClique #Cactus #Cacti #Ferocactus

This cactus might be a little difficult for beginners because of its unusual requirements (ample water, no drying out, good soil matched with good drainage). They don't need to be repotted until it has grown bigger than the pot itself. But overall if well taken care of, it's a very beautiful cactus.
