Alocasia nebula
About Alocasia nebula
Alocasias, commonly known as Elephant Ears, are some of the most common houseplants although their leaves can reach enormous sizes when grown outdoors! 🐘 They typically only support a few leaves at a time (more, when they get more sun!) so don't be concerned if you see an old leaf begin to retire after a new one emerges. They grow out of underground corms which are similar to bulbs, so next time you repot keep an eye out for baby Alocasias! They contain calcium oxalate crystals so be sure to keep them out of reach if you have children or pets! ⚠️

How to fertilize Alocasia nebula
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Alocasia nebula after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

I’m a new Alocasia Polly owner- I noticed she was starting to droop so I watered her 2 days ago thinking she was thirsty. She is even more droopy now. Her soil feels dry. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, any suggestions? I heard they are pretty dramatic plants! #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PropagationStation #SucculentLove #PlantTherapy #PetsAndPlants #PlantCorner

#happyplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantaddict #newgrowth #propagationstation #alocasiaaddicts So, a few weeks in and another new baby leaf, 5 already. And, to my surprise and in the same week, I believe one aerial root is going underground and one young stem is coming back up to, I suppose, start a new individual. Am I correct? Happy days!

Why would my Alocasia Polly Plants leaves turn brown? I had this Alocasia Polly Plant for just a little over a month. I repot it 4 weeks after delivery as recommended from the guide that came with it. But the last few days the leaves have been turning brown. I have been watering it like normal when the thermometer turns white but I also check to see if the fertilizer is dry before watering. The grow light hasn't seem to help so been putting it outside these last couple of days indirect sunlight in a shaded area where the sun just peaks through. What could cause the plant's leaves to turn? I'm new to trying to care for a Plant lol.

Is my silver dragon getting an indication of getting misted to much? What would be causing the tips to be changing?

Look at this monster of a new leaf! This was my first alocasia and I’m so happy to see it thriving, even after I repotted it. I expected it to throw a tantrum lol. But this leaf coming in is just enormous #NewGrowth

Been waiting a long time for her, and I am speechless. Largest leaf is almost 16 inches long and 8 inches wide. I can’t wait to take care of her :) Welcome Dolores! #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PlantTherapy #GrowLights #PlantCorner #PlantLove #WeirdPlants

Hello all! Just wanted to share a new episode. A few months ago we were offered a propagated division of this gorgeous Black Stem Alocasia, one with 3 leaves on it. It all looked fine in the first days, new vase, great and mixed soil, humidity, lots of hours of indirect sunlight and then...one leaf starts to yellow like in the first photo. I let it stay, replanting shock I thought. Let it stay and reabsorb some nutrients while you are at it. One week goes by, another one gets yellow. Same thing, let it stay as long as you can. 3 weeks go by and then...the first new growth! 2 weeks later...another one! One week later and...this 4th curious one just showed up! The original leaf is the one on the right in the original photo. Good day! #newgrowth #alocasiaaddicts #happyplants #Alocasia

Yellowing leaves on an alocasia Hi! I got this alocasia about a month ago and I have already lost two leaves. The smaller leaves near the base of the plant turn yellow, one at a time, and then droop. I repotted the plant in a chunky soil mix when I got it and follow the watering guidelines on the app, so I just don’t understand why it is turning yellow. It is in a west facing window, but does not get any direct sunlight due to an overhand outside. I don’t see any signs of pests, so I would appreciate some help since it is my first alocasia and I am determined to keep it alive! Thanks in advance.

My plants love LECA… too much Hey friends😍 So. Fellow LECA users. I’m pretty new to LECA and my plants are LOVING IT, especially the alocasias. But tell me… what do you do when this happens? This is my alocasia low rider. A few weeks after switching to LECA, I took the first picture. And I took the second one over the weekend 👀Needless to say, I was shocked! And delighted. But what do I do now? Lol do I pot up? Won’t the roots keep growing like crazy? Eventually I won’t have a pot large enough! 🤣 #HappyPlants #AlocasiaAddicts #LecaLeague #RootPorn #NewGrowth #BeforeAndAfter #babevila
