Hi! My palm tree used to be super happy, even sprouted palm flowers and everything. It's always had a bit of an issue with crispy tips, but I feel like it's gotten worse lately, and all the new growth lately I've had just never unfurls. Haalp!

So excited about this find!😍 So I’ve seen a few people finding variegated Alocasias at big box stores lately, so that has made me step up my search 😂 Well I finally found one worth the hunt! It's #GregGivesBack #GIVEAWAY TIME! Sometimes I look around and I realize that I have certain plants that tell MY STORY! For instance: I have a Florida Ghost. In 2022, IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! It was a plant to be envied; it was a single, dainty stem with mint green leaves and COMPLETELY WHITE LEAVES. It seemed like the perfect #Wishlist plant. (First Picture) Then, I had a TOTAL life-change. I’m not gonna lie: 2023 was ROUGH. (Second Picture) Some days, I felt like death warmed over and I felt very bare. No beautiful leaves, no perfect foliage … just an ugly stem. Finally, I decided to do some pruning in my life. Pruning can hurt. I took the ugly stem of my once beautiful Ghost and I cut it in half. I gave my plant new soil and a new location. Now, (Picture Three) I have SEVEN new points of growth and the beginnings of EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL LEAVES! Sometimes when it seems that all is lost, it’s just time to do some pruning so you have a chance to grow even more! I was talking to Jon on the phone for well over an hour yesterday and he enlightened me on one thing I wanted and thought I needed to share with everyone. #ljplantnursery The best time of day to repot your plants is of the evening. I honestly didn’t know that. Me beingg the curious person I am I had to find out why. Some of you may already know this. THIS ONE WE ALL PRETTY MUCH KNOW: Spring is ideal for repotting a houseplant. Plants often go dormant in the winter and begin growing again as daylight hours increase in the spring. Repotting gives them the room they need to grow. But that doesn’t mean you have to wait for spring. If a plant is showing signs of stress or poor health, go ahead and repot any time of year. THIS I DIDN’T KNOW: Try to repot in the evening if possible. “At night, in the absence of bright sunlight, the plant’s metabolism slows down, so it has a chance to recover from repotting stress,”. #whentorepotaplant

I WENT TO MY FAVORITE LOCAL PLANT NURSERY TO CHECK THEIR RESTOCK AND I FOUND 4 PLANTS FROM MY WISHLIST. I can NOT believe my luck, I got a gorgeous monstera Thai constellation, a variegated philodendron ring of fire, a philodendron squamiferum, and a philodendron mican. And under 200 TOTAL! I love this place so much, if you live in Ames Iowa check out Back Alley house plants. On Facebook Orange Lake Nursery in Florida destroyed by Tornado...Pray for them please 🙏 "Frank, the dogs, & myself are okay. Frank's quick thinking got us into the laundry room & to safety. Some broken windows on the house but we are okay. The neighborhood is working on clearing the roads for emergency responders. The business is destroyed. We are without power & we don't know for how long. We will reach out & be in touch as soon as possible. Tornado just came out of nowhere. I have never been so scared. We are still bracing for the hurricane that is still in route. We are so grateful for your prayers & patience. New Plants! It was recently my thirteenth birthday, and one of my gifts was 75 dollars to spend at the plant store. More than I ever spend. And so, I went to my favorite nursery and came home with a brand new Pink Princess Philodendron and a Raphidophora Tetrasperma!
