In March of 2022, I brought home this adorable Thai Constellation seedling, and I'll be honest, I was kinda nervous – it was so tiny! Fast forward almost two years, and wow, the transformation is awe-inspiring. It's grown into this beauty. Second is my krimson princess… she has grown quite a bit for a Hoya… she has taught me about how different soils do different things!

#bostonfern When I decided I was ready to take the plunge into creating my green oasis, I thought “why not take on the one plant that you think you will never be successful with?”. So I did.
I bought Fern-dinand in April 2023. He started out in a 10” pot, today he’s in a 14” pot. And 7 months, 2 re-pots, 2 divisions (I removed a 1/3 each time) later, he’s doing mighty fine!!

I was given a bunch of little mother of thousands plantlets and they refused to grow! I was following the initial advice I found online and had them all together in a big pot. I switched it up to individual pots, changed the soil, and stuck them under a grow light, now they’re getting big and making their own plantlets! (I’ll be overrun soon enough 😂) size wise the black plastic containers are the same containers in both photos #BeforeAndAfter #Kalanchoe
Then and now, burros tail. Can’t believe how much it has grown! 3rd pic is my new outdoor garden space that I never would have had the courage to put in if my indoor plants hadn’t taught me so much about developing a green(ish) thumb. Hope that all of my plants both indoor and outdoor continue to bring me joy for many years to come! I will be filling this bed in the spring with many more native plants and perennials 😍can’t wait.

I kind of have 2 sets of before and after with my Calathea Makoyana (Millie as I named her). I got her as a tiny-winy plant 1 1/2 years ago, watched her grow into a queen, split her up after a year (🙈) and watched her regain her beautiful crown in just a few months again. Love this plant 💚

I’ve learned so much about patience with my tropical plants. I’ve gardened since I was a little girl following my parents as they worked on their outdoor gardens 🌹 🌸 🍅 🥒. I have learned SO MUCH from this group, from soil types, light/watering needs, propagation, and patience. For example, I received this mystery plant from someone who was moving. I assume the single large leaf got sunburned because it continued to brown further and further down the leaf, until I was left with a stem and a pointy spike next to the stem. I cut off the leaf, and observed. Meanwhile, the spike started to brown and get soft. After a bit, I got up my nerve to peel@away the soft, brown portion and exposed a firm, green portion, but still spikey. Figuring I had nothing to lose at this point, I cut off the stem to see if it would focus growth from anywhere else on the plant. I magazine my joy when leaves began to sprout…from the SPIKE! I’m excited to@watch this plant grown and develop, and hopefully learn what the beach it is! The nursery pot said “Philodendron melinonii” but I’ve no clue if this person had reused the pot. Then there’s the Amydrium silver that I received as a long runner with a leaf at the end as well@as the $2 King Soopers clearance Dragon Scale Alocasia that is flourishing now that I’ve learned more about alocasia needs.
Happy Birthday Greg! A couple plants here, but only a few months of growth. The succulent is a Hawarthia bought at beginning of summer and it has plumped up quite a bit. The last pics are a Kaffir Lime tree I started from seed, feels slow growing since the days have gotten shorter, but it has dropped it's cotyledons, grown taller and is growing a fresh leaf (it's 4th). 🌱 🎉
