How to fertilize Dragonfruit

Nutrient, fertilizer, and repotting needs for Dragonfruit: repot after 2X growth

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.

By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.

To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Dragonfruit after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Grows from seed easily but needs lots of sun and lots of support. It’s pretty weak, you’ll need to prop it up with stakes.

This guy is one for someone who is patient. I propagated him from a friends plant and put him directly into soil as was directed. However he has taken so long to grow roots and settle in his new pot. Her plant has exploded in the large pot and takes up so much room that he needs a new one soon. They are easy to take care of and relatively low maintenance which is great! But they do require patience.

A really hardy plant! I water it very rarely. I can’t actually remember the last time I watered it lol! You can forget about it for a month and it will be fine! A piece of the plant was actually growing on the plastic tag that had the care instructions on it. It wasn’t even attached to the mother plant! Both the mother plant and the small leaf have survived and they’re thriving. I would highly recommend this plant to anyone!

My dragonfruit plant, Rasputin, was originally supporting a moon cactus because the moon cacti are unable to thrive on their own. They are typically grafted onto the top of a hylocereus. This left him with a brown spot in the middle, but the death of the moon cactus has allowed him to thrive beautifully since then. He has grown so many new branches, and he’s so easy to care for. These plants can get very big when given the opportunity to do so. I definitely recommend!

They grow extremely fast. Within hours of sunlight exposure they’ll be bending towards the light! Very cute when small but can easily become unmanageable.
