About Kris Plant
Alocasias, commonly known as Elephant Ears, are some of the most common houseplants although their leaves can reach enormous sizes when grown outdoors! 🐘 They typically only support a few leaves at a time (more, when they get more sun!) so don't be concerned if you see an old leaf begin to retire after a new one emerges. They grow out of underground corms which are similar to bulbs, so next time you repot keep an eye out for baby Alocasias! They contain calcium oxalate crystals so be sure to keep them out of reach if you have children or pets! ⚠️
Taxonomy
Alocasia sanderiana

Finding light for Kris Plant in your home
a window
Kris Plant may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves 🍃, without ample sunlight.
Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Kris Plant in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Kris Plant
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Kris Plant after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

HELP! It was happily living in a north facing window since the spring, put out one new leaf but then last month it started going brown and has 1 of 3 leaves left 😢 *The bulb is not soft 😅 *I've moved it next to my fish tank with a grow light for now #KrisPlant

Anyone experience this or have some insight? I have a no ID alocasia that I believe to be an alocasia sandriana. I moved it indoors due to predicted nighttime temps falling bellow 50 degrees. I noticed when back lit it appears to have this variegated look to the leaves, which it did not have when I purchased it. Not sure if this is a sign of impending doom, or a fluke. Anyone experience this? Alocasias do great for me, but this one has me a little baffled and worried. It’s my favorite of course 🙄😂. #AlocasiaAddicts #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #Alocasia

I love my Alocasias but this one is my favorite. I simply can not wait for this leaf to unfurl on my Alocasia Sanderiana. #NewGrowth #AlocasiAddicts

Can anyone confirm this alocasia is a sanderiana? I found this beauty at a local greenhouse that does not normally carry houseplants, and it was not marked. I know it’s an alocasia, just unsure of which type. I attached additional pictures that might help with ID. Largest leaf is 13” long. #alocasia #mystery #KrisPlant #help

Yellow leaf tip Does anyone know, whats wrong with my alocasia? I first thought she might have too much light, but when I moved her away from the window, her leaf got yellow way faster... so now she is back at her old spot...
