About Hoya carnosa 'Compacta'
With over 500 species and even more cultivars, there's a Hoya out there for everyone! They're native to Southeast Asia and their common name, waxplant, refers to their thick, waxy leaves which help them retain water in the heat. They're excellent climbers and will take off if you give them a trellis to grow on. Their other-worldly, star-shaped flowers are often fragrant and come in brilliant shades of red, pink, yellow, and more!

How to fertilize Hoya carnosa 'Compacta'
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Hoya carnosa 'Compacta' after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

New Hoya Plant Mom #Hoya I got him from a plant nursery that shipped out from California. I waited the 2 weeks before repotting into a terracotta pot…but on the 28th, this is what it looked like before repotting. Did I wait too long? Or is it still adjusting to the new environment? My great-grandmother had one that lived 60 years and I wanted to follow in her footsteps with this plant baby…any kind advice is appreciated… 🥺

Decided to make a last minute stop at Home Depot yesterday to check out what houseplants they had. On the very bottom of this one shelf I found a singal hoya compacta hiding. 😍 Hoping I can save her, she’s looking a little rough. #hoya #HoyaHangout #HoyaHeads

Warts on my Hoya Hindu Rope Hi Everyone! I am fairly new to taking care of indoor plants and the app has been helping a lot! But I am not aure if something is wrong with one of my new plants. I was reporting my Hoya today and noticed some strange warts on the vine part. When I received it, the leaves looked a little damaged, but I didn’t think anything of it at the time, but now that I see the vine I’m wondering if that is causing the leaf problems or if that is normal? There is new growth happening near the tip of the vine.

What other plant parents say
The hoya compacta is a very sturdy houseplant...BUT, I was dumb and left it in a shady part of my room... it didn’t kill it, but it definitely didn’t thrive. now it’s right in front of my window (north facing) and it’s looking a lot better. in general if you have a window facing south or west i would definitely recommend to keep your hoya in that room in a spot where it can get a moderate amount of light. 🌞🪴
When I first received this lady, she was pretty well kept. My mistake was having her near a lighted candle which shocked a stem and caused immediate shrinkage of leaves. After cutting the damage and re-locating closer to a east facing window, she’s doing great again. Even recovering halved leaves with new fiber growth. A slow grower without fertilizer, but could be faster in a perfect spot for indirect, bright light and a water time table. Do not recommend for house/apartment that tends to stay cooler.
